I just caught up with today's episode. There was not much to analyse but here my thoughts on some of the key sequences anyway.
Tulsi Vivaah Pooja As the women perform the Tulsi pooja at the temple, the screenplay had each share their prayers. It was interesting that while Uttara prayed that Rishabh's change in behavior and her love for him be permanent, Devyani wanted this life to be the last of her "saath janam ka rishta" with Brahmanand. Vidya on the other hand prayed that she become Gaurav's best friend and love while Priya wanted this dream she was beginning to see with Aditya become real. This scene reiterated for me just how below the surface Devyani's emotions are...waiting to burst through with the right trigger. Similarly, Uttara's thoughts are in line with the "calm" phase she is in with Rishabh. Vidya is trying to live her dream while Priya wants her dream to be real. Wonderful contrasts.
Wonderful use of words. The irony of life...
Aditya & the Jhaakar Family
As the Pradhans leave to check on Priya, Aditya starts to answer Devyani's questions about where Priya is but is interrupted by Brahmanand who takes him aside to talk. Brahmanand's open favoring of Aditya is very interesting to watch. It almost seemed like he wants to be the most important person in Aditya's life...kind of possessive to the point where he had to hear what happened from Aditya first before anybody else.
Aaah yes. I have a feeling that Brahmanand is doing it both subconsciously and deliberately. Deliberately because he wants to snub his elder son by lavishing love upon the younger. Secondly, I guess his elder son screwed up big time in the marriage department. Now he doesn't want his younger son to do the same and hence he's overerjoyed that Adi has jumped into the correct boat.
Priya & the Pradhan Family
Back home, Priya's father inquires about why Priya came back from the temple. Upon hearing her response that she gave Aditya a letter detailing everything that happened to her, Chinu loses his cool. I loved this scene. Chinu's spontaneous reaction reflected his character's concern that Priya would never be able to move on. Also, it was not obvious, but I felt like his outburst also came from his fear of losing Aditya. Chinu's character admires and looks up to Aditya as that cool older brother type figure and probably did not want to lose his presence in their lives.
I loved Chinu's outburst. It was probably the first time he has yelled at his elder sister in a long time. With Priya's life spiralling downward, his relationship with her must have changed from the playful, mischievous one to the caring, protective one. I felt that Chiu is scared about losing Aditya, but for his sister's sake more than anything else. Priya remaining an old maid (aah...I remembered Austen!) has been a distinct possibility till now and suddenly Aditya shows a light out of the tunnel and then with priya's actions, there is a strong possibility of the light being snatched away.
Jhaakar Family
The first scene with the siblings and Uttara teasing Aditya about Priya's letter was well done. It reflected Aditya's character's subconscious fear about reading the letter and learning the full truth about Priya's past. The impulsive, rash person that Aditya is, this was probably the most reflective he has been shown in the series so far.
Similarly, the next scene with Vidya trying to decorate the bedroom with flowers that make Gaurav have an allergic reaction was endearing. Vidya's character is willing to take charge with Gaurav rather than wait for him to something.
The episode closed with Aditya still evaluating whether he should open Priya's letter or not.
Okay this whole talk of not opening the letter sounds OTT and irrational and I can TRP TRP whispers in my ears!
If I try to explain it, Aditya who has loved Priya at first sight and has mentally always thought of her as his fairytale, beautiful princess, does not want that mental image to be tarnished, ever. And hence his refusal to open her letter till now. He's afraid subconsciously that he will fall out of love with her.
Hence he even says: My love is not that fake that I'll let her past prevent me from marrying her. But if that was so Aditya, why don't you jst open up and read that letter. It isn't going to change your decision anyways....unless it does affect you...
I hate it when I have to attempt to explain a show's intent and rationalize its plot.
