hey people, i havent posted here in agess but somedays i miss rishta.com like crazyy and today is one such day.. 😭
ok so despite sony whining over their loss and cringing over the fact that the revamping of their channel at the beginning of this year was quite unprofitable they still ended up agreeing to the second season of mahi way! maybe it has a bigger fan following than rishta.com but maybe its just because devika bhagat is involved with mahi way. i am not quite sure how but she has either written the story of the basic idea was hers or something... the very same devika bhagat was co-writer of aisha and you cant deny the fact that in india no matter what the movies are always considered way more superior than a sensible tv show( however, there arent many existing but still... ).. maybe this made sony tv think that mahi way deserves a second chance as it has devika bhagat assosiated with it afterall..

p.s i dont in anyway want to offend devika bhagat and admire her creativity because i LOVED aisha but i think this might be a reason why we are being deprived of a second season of india's most awesomest show while mahi way is being given another opportunity:(

I don't know what it is about Mahi Way that's making them give it another chance...Sony has always inclined to ideas that are a little 'hatke' so maybe they think the story of an overweight girl and her escapades would draw more of niche audience than the realistic and very much normal Rishta.com. It's tragic, really...because this is one rare show in which everything clicked perfectly, be it the casting, production, concept...yet they've chosen to dismantle it.

Sometimes I think it might be Rishab Seth who wouldn't rather write for a second season because they had planned only one from the very beginning. It's difficult trying to imagine how this show may be brought back when we don't know which party it is exactly that's blocking the idea of season two...Sony, YRF, or the R.com team.

Mahi Way isn't being given another chance just cuz Devika Bhagat wrote it I think.....scriptingwise, she went offtrack with both Mahi Way in it's latter half and Aisha was a half-baked and poorly written screenplay for the most part anyways.

Mahi Way is being brought back cuz it got much better TRPs than Rishta.com....which is so (not) shocking given that it got a MUCH better timeslot than R.com (Saturdays 8pm) and better promotion.....and ultimately it seems there are more Mahis floating around in the real world who identify with the protagonist.....which is mindboggling to me given how superficial the character turned out to be with NIL character groW*H....what "amazing" writing by Ms. Bhagat *rolls eyes*

Rishta.com was NEVER given a chance by this channel at all....and that is the saddest part.....they constantly shortchanged it when it was on air and now they don't give a damn enough to bring it back either.....🤢

As for the why of that......I'm still wondering about that to this day.....I fail to understand how a show as amazing in quality as R.com never got its due....instead average third rate crap is being applauded🥱

11PM on Wednesday night, dunno what amazing audience they were trying to tap into. Sony needs some dire marketing help. Like I keep on saying like a broken record, I'm 102% sure that if R.com came back with a second season there would be a hike in its TRPs because of the huge amount of people who have found out about it after the end of S1.

I really don't believe that Mahi Way is coming back because of fan petitioning and effort. One only has to see Rishta.com's facebook page to see that there's still demand for a second season and more people are finding out about the show even now. No matter how hard we try, I think it's pretty obvious that Sony/YRF/Rishab Seth are blocking S2...now which one of the three it is and whether they can ever be convinced otherwise...sadly it doesn't look like we'll ever know.

Fatty I don't think YRF or Rishab Seth would block Rishta.com2....Shruti herself has always seemed pretty open to the idea anytime she's been asked the question....why would Rishab be against it? .....I think it's most likely Sony blocking it giving the 'TRPs' wala season.

MW is most definitely not coming back cuz of any petitioning....I don't think there WAS any petitioning going on for it ever either :S lol.....plain and simple that show got more TRPs than R.com.

And yeah I agree that if R.com came back, it would deffo get much higher ratings cuz I also know many ppl discovered the show after it ended and keep on discovering it till this day and then realizing what an amazing show it is.

I don't know, Anu, I've always felt like they never thought of having a second season from very early on 😕 Like in this article (http://www.india-forums.com/tellybuzz/buzzin-hot/6632-seven-will-not-shut-down-prematurely.htm), R.com is alone and explicitly mentioned as a show that 'might be taken off' while the others aren't mentioned in that category...and this is in April. I'm sure Kavi and Shruti are up for a second season...from their tweets, it sounds like they were at least. Weirdly enough, I didn't get the same vibe from Rishab Seth.

One thing that still makes me restless is how they put that 'End of Season 1' bit in the last episode...If Sony full well anticipated that they weren't having another season, they should've chopped that out, no? And if they were still undecided by then, what happened so significantly to sway their decision towards cancelling it AFTER the show ended? TRP hogwash toh they were well aware of even before.

EDIT: Also, in case someone from the R.com team is reading these threads and just generally for us to see as well, lots of people are still voicing their demand for a second season even now: http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/mahi-way-and-rishtacom-wont-have-season-two - The comments on this article are very recent!

Hmmm I see your point, Fatty.....Rishab has been surprisingly mum on the topic while Shruti and Kavi have expressed more obvious interest.....but I wonder if Shruti knows that her brother doesn't want a second season, why would she still show interest in having a second season😕

The "End of season one" line confuses me to this day as to WHAT exact intentions they had that they put that there when they NEVER intended to bring it back.....that's just so PATHETIC then! Arghhhhh!

the time slot definitely counts and rishab is just not so active on twitter in general.. i'm pretty sure he wouldnt mind a second season... had this been the case why would he write end of season 1 to be specific..
also when introducing these shows yrf said theyy WILL HAVE seasons.. thats the way it was planned.. i thnk its sony who is reluctant.. only if they could have promoted the show 😡

Reading the comments here, i now badly want a season two!!
I feel the two factors that are hindering the process of a season two is mainly that pathetic rating system called TRPs and also Sony, the channel themselve, not wanting to have a second season. The directors of Sony TV seriously have no idea on how to run a channel. They always pulled out shows that seems to be doing well without giving it a second chance. 😕 I REALLY feel that Mahi Way doesn't deserve a season two at all! That whole show lacked consistency..and Mahi as a character was so un-inspiring to me. 😕
Rishta.com was almost near to perfection and i feel given a chance, Rishab Seth would have crafted out a season two. Afterall this show was his baby, i don't think he would have given up the chance to re-create the magic through a second season. Shurti did say that he too was terribly dissappointed with the channels decisions. Am still hoping against hope that one fine day we will get a season two of Rishta.com.

Unfortunately somewhere down the line anything thats real or aims to be close to that doens't do well on Indian TV because it fails to gather the kind of commerical response something that's jazzed up however unrealisitic(all those "family" dramas) and nauseating (read cheesy shows or reality 'scripted' shows) manage to do. It's so annnoying to think of the possibility that a show far more unreal and pointless may be brought in instead and get yearly extensions while something more decent like rishta.com goes off before it makes any mark. Not implying rishta is the best there was but it was still better than most crap out there. But then again, who cares, as long as people get their twenty minutes of high-voltage-mindless-drama :I they are happy and the channel with the 'trp' those shows rake in.
