The Vampire Diaries is based on a novel series penned by L.J. Smith where you are given the insight into the diary of 17-year old Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev). Elena and her brother, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Elena seeks comfort from her familiar social circle – best friend Bonnie (Katerina Graham), frenemy Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola), and former boyfriend Matt Donovan(Zach Roerig).
Elena and her friends become fixated by a mysterious new student, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Stefan and Damon(Ian Somerhalder) are vampire brothers – one good, one evil – at war for Elena's soul.

Elena looks like Katherine the vampire who sired brothers Stefan and Damon over 145 years ago. Katherine is the opposite of Elena and is manipulative, in love with Stefan and will do anything to get what she wants. Katherine rips Damon's heart into pieces by revealing that she never loved him and only ever loved his brother Stefan. She makes Elena's life miserable and breaks Stefan and Elena up by threatening to kill Elena's Aunt and friends and family.

Katherine works woth the lockwoods family of Werewolves to escape death and comes back to collect a precious stone that will break the curse forever so that she can walk in daylight without the aid of her enchanted ring so she needs a Werewolf for this plan.

Twilight is based on a Sephanie Meyer's novel and everyone knows this story.

True Blood is based on Charlaine Harris novel's and is aired on HBO channel and is for over 18's as it has a lot of nudity and very graphic not for the faint hearted. . A Japanese scientist's invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. In the southern town of Bon Temps, a local barmaid named Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) understands what it's like to be an outcast. Cursed with the ability to hear the thoughts of everyone, she's also open-minded about the integration of vampires. She is especially intrigued by Bill Compton(Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road but due to secrecy and lies she breaks up with him. She ends up finding out she is a fairy whose blood is intoxicating for magical beings. Eric and Vampire Sheriff falls in love with Sookie and will do anything to be with her. Other town residents include Sookie's best friend Tara (Rutina Wesley), her slow-witted older brother Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and her shape-shifting boss Sam (Sam Trammell).

I had to make sure that this showed U how dark this show. Plus find one without the swear words and any over the top racy scenes. The show is about Vampires/Shapeshifters/Werewolves/Fairies and any other mythical creatures there are.
