she also sang so many beautiful songs like..kuhu boole koyalia, muh se chal kiye jaye, wow
all i want to say is tht luck has been hard on sneha even when she won the finals
WOW i miss those days ....why can't we listen such songs today.....
we MUST REMEMBER tht even how much OUTDATED our Indian classical may....BUT it represents our culture, diversity and reputation, and thats why there is only ONE LATA MANGESHKAR In this country....enuff said abt it.

If you relate the song of that time with culture then offcourse those songs are outdated because culture of that era is outdated. And if you do not related with culture then those songs can be called as "Evergreen".
Culture has evolved a lot in India. First couple did not see each other before marriage, then couple could see each other before marriage, then comes love marriage and now live-in relationship.

I would differ a bit. The judges were different. Possibly, they were the younger Mangeshkar sisters(not Lataji and Ashaji) whose judgment cannot be said to be infallible. Someone of Shreya's caliber comes once in a while. She has proved herself in almost every Indian language(Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi and so on) - something which no modern singer in India has done (proving themselves in so many languages, only Sonu Nigam perhaps come a bit close).

PS. I don't believe in connections or PR Agents for rising to the top of your work. In my opinion, these factors may be important for 2nd level or 3rd level singers, but for top of the line singers like Shreya Ghoshal, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam, Sukhvinder, Shankar Mahadevan, etc these factors are not that important. The only luck needed is getting in the initial few breaks. After that it entirely the singers own caliber.

Let us see what wikepedia has to say

Ghoshal caught the attention of film director Sanjay Leela Bhansaliwhen she participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for a second time, this time as an adult. In 2000, he offered her the opportunity to be the voice of Paro, the lead female character of his filmDevdas, who was portrayed by Aishwarya Rai. Shreya sang five songs under the musical direction of Ismail Darbar in the film. Her performance won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer, as well as Filmfare's RD Burman Award for New Music Talent, given to upcoming talents in music. She also won a National Film Award for the song "Bairi Piya".

Since Devdas, she has received awards singing under prominent musicians including A. R. Rahman, M. M. Keeravani, Shantanu Moitra and Pritam. She has won many awards both in the north and south film industries. Moviegoers from across the world heard Ghoshal's singing voice pictured on Aishwarya Rai, and in coming years she quickly became one of the top female playback singers in Bollywood, alongside Alka Yagnik, Sadhana Sargam, and Kavita Krishnamurthy.

She enjoys symphony and instrumental western music; her favourite groups are Dream Theater, Backstreet Boys and Boyzone. But Indian music is her passion. She won three more Filmfare Awards. She is the only singer to get four national awards at the age of 26 in the Hindi film industry.

Shreya Ghosal and Sneha Pant gave neck to neck fight to each other...If shreya sang Suniyo Ji from LEkin flawlessly, Sneha sang ;Morre ghar aaye sajanwa' with a grace and amazed everyone.
at the Mega finals it was very difficult who shall win...but Sneha Pant won the mega finals...and shreya lost...
But Fate has something else for them.....Even after losing a compettiton....Shreya Ghosal became a superstar and Sneha even after winning the title had to satisfy herself in singing in few films and albums..
well thats' fate...😛

I agree...luck has an equal role along with talent in film industry. Shreya is undoubtedly talented, but she was even more luckier to get the initial offers and break the way she did. Not only Sneha Pant, i heard few beautiful singers, who didnt get many songs in my native language due to lack of PR as they stated in their interviews. Hope Sneha pant finds her luck too in future.

Check out this interview of Shreya wherein she speaks about her mentor Kalyanji Anandji, who saw the star in her & supported her so that she grows up as a complete singer. Kalyanji used to organise singing shows for kids, wherein many of the saregama child contestants would sing but he never allowed Shreya to do such shows, the reason is:

yeah, i think i remember her saying that Anand-ji was the main reason for her and her family to leave their home and settle in mumbai. then of course as well all know, SLB offered her first big break in Bollywood, then the rest is history! 😃

the name Sneha Pant sounds soooo familar! it could be i remember her from SRGM, but i don't think so b/c i don't remember Shreya. the only person who remember is Ronkani from classic SRGM. (i was a child during that time....)

Shreya managed great heights bcoz she was truely talented & unique too in terms of not only singing skills but also her beautiful voice quality, I mean there are soo many singers who came before her & after her & went. Many even got alot of public attention & Hype but never made any significant achievement in bollywood.
During Shreya's saregama days she managed to grab attention of 3 people, Kalyanji anandji who truly believed in her, Sanjay leela bhansali who gave her the opportunity as he found her perfect & there was another Music director who offered her to sing tamil songs for him & this was even before SLB, (i dont remember his name) but shreya mentioned about it in this interview of hers
