Sunday June 12, 10:13 AM Idolspeak: Sawant enjoys a starry trek |
Three months after instant stardom, Abhijeet Sawant, the first Indian Idol, is still trying to learn the rules of the game of name and fame. "At times I crave for a walk down the lane. Or, the Sunday morning cricket sessions. Anyway, I couldn't have done all that all my life. So I'm happy working hard for my career and family," he says.
Success is fine, but one thing that Abhijeet won't give up for anything is maa ke haath ka khana. Something he doesn't get time to savour often these days. "I have a cup of tea before leaving home. And by the time I'm back late at night, I'm too tired. I have a glass of milk and go off to sleep," he says.
Abhijeet, who performed in the Yaaron concert in Delhi last night in Pitampura, says he is upbeat about his new album, Yaaron. "We told the story of 11 Indian Idol contestants in Pal. In Yaaron, we end the story," he says.
Coming up after Yaaron is an album with Jassi of Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. He has been flooded with film offers - both singing and acting - but says he hasn't picked any yet. "I'm concentrating on my albums. I want the non-film music industry to be as popular as Bollywood or cricket," he says.
So, what's the eligible bachelor's take on love? "I don't have anyone in my life yet. I am yet to meet the right girl. I hope it happens soon."
