TAKUR SAJJAN SINGH
The first reaction to truth is hatred
Prats reads "Kesar can never become a mother" from the doctor's report. Takur Sajjan Singh, the patriarch of the family is shocked and his eyes well up with tears. Yet that doesn't stop him from challenging Prats. "What did you mean? What did you say? What do you mean Kesar can never become a mother?" He bitingly directed his questions at Krishna "For what lifetime is she taking revenge on us? Tell her to keep her black tongue locked or I will show her entire family. He was in deep denial. He grabs the papers "you are not educated so how will you know what is written in this? No one in this family is educated and your wife is taking advantage of it and thinks we will blindly believe her.
Anger is just a cowardly extension of sadness. It's a lot easier to be angry at someone than it is to tell them you're hurt. ' Tom Gates
When Krishna challenges his meaningless questions SS rants on "What can I say? Ever since your wife came to this house has she ever wished for something good for this family, why will she want it now? She is hoping a dark shadow continues to stay here, we continue to suffer and die from all the difficulties we face and then she will be happy. Look, she is a thief and all the sins inside her show on her face. Ever since your Prats devi came to this house there has been nothing but fighting, commotion and hell here". Then what is it that you see Takurji that is on your wife's face? Krishna questions his sanity and as if to prove Krishna right SS loses it completely and yells at him. Krishna looks at him calmly, the love for his father still there in spite of the hurt.
KRISHNA SINGH
Sad are only those who understandAs soon as Prats read the report to the family, Krishna expressed his emotions with just a flaring of his nostrils, sadness and anger expressed in that one expression. SS doesn't believe Prats. Krishna defends her "Tell me what benefit does she get out of saying bauji can never be a mother ever?" SS has no answers so he decides to lash out at Prats instead. Krishna asks SS "What nonsense are you talking about and what are you implying here" She read what was written there. I'll tell you, she will never dos such a mean thing ever. You go off without reason, it's just your habit, nothing else. You have lost your mind". SS pushes him and tells him to get lost. Krishna turns to watch his father with love while understanding his disappointment and hurt.
TAKUR SAJJAN SINGH
Examine what is said, not who speaks" ' Arabic Proverb
Just then the doc arrived. SS tells him to read and explain the contents of the report. The doctor does a quick perusal and informs SS "due to being badly hurt it has damaged her uterus so she can never become a mother." SS threatens the doctor "think before you speak". Prats tells him "bauji the doctor only read what was already written in the report." Doctor confirms what is written "it says right here that your bahu cannot become a mother." This sent SS off the deep end. He grabbed the doctor by the neck "if Sakthibo cannot become a mother then you can't live either". Krishna breaks SS's hold on the doctor and tells the physician to leave. Krishna tells SS "you are a strange man. When a person in the family reads it you don't believe her and then when an outsider reads you loose it again. Now do you believe it"? SS is silenced by the truth in Krishna's words. Baba stumps him every time. But the rift between father and son is widening rapidly. The day they part ways will be hard on both of them. Who will feel the pain more? Your guess is as good as mine!
TAKURAIN SUMITRA DEVI SINGH
Love sees sharply, hatred sees even more sharp, but jealously sees the sharpest for it is love and hate at the same time. - Arabic Proverbs
The tongue is the only tool that gets sharper with use"
Cruelty, like every other vice, requires no motive outside of itself; it only requires opportunity"
Cruelty is fed, not weakened, by tears". Cruelty and fear shake hands together"
Amma drops into her chair crying in shock. "What kind of black shadow is not leaving our family alone" she questions. "Shakthiya there will be no one to take our name in this house. What inauspicious time has this report come to this house." Piasiya adds her two cents worth to fan the flames. Takurain seems to have conveniently forgotten she had instigated KN to beat Kesar that has led her to this situation yet she is ready to throw the blame at someone else. Prats had had enough. She is appalled at Takurain's words. "What is the point in talking about that now? If it meant that much to you, then you and Sakthi bhaiyya should have thought about it earlier." LALLANTOP LINE, PRATS! You are learning from Krishna to keep it short and to the point. 👏 It's the bitter truth that she needs to hear like it or not. No one else seems to hold her accountable for her brazen acts of late. Has SS become Takurain's joru ka ghulam after all? 😲A wounded lioness speared by the truth, Takurain rises and vents her fury on Prats "you brazen, shameless woman! You have no tears in your eyes, your jetani world has come crashing down and she has lost her godh and there is not one tear in your eyes." Not everyone uses tears to cover up their guilt, shame and anger. Takurain, you have asked the same question about why your family is being haunted by black shadows, what wrong you had done that you are all going through so much hell and you still didn't get your answer? That's surprising given that you do something gatiya day in and day out and the truth still hasn't hit you in the face?😲
KATRA NARESH AKA SAKTHI SINGH
All the meanness, all the revenge, all the selfishness, all the cruelty, all the hatred, all the infamy of which the heart of man is capable, grew, blossomed and bore fruit in this one word, Hell- Robert Green Ingersoll
Matrimony is the union of meanness and martyrdom ~ Karl Kraus
KN is grinding his teeth as Prats reads the doctor's report. He seems the least affected by the news. He never wanted a child with Kesar. But as a human being couldn't he show an ounce of compassion, remorse or even a conscience that held him accountable for his actions that had left a woman abused, battered and devastated and deprived her of the only dream she had hoped for in her life. To add to it Amma makes him seem like the victim and feels sorry for his plight of never becoming a father. Like mother, like son.
KN in a defensive move to save himself from SS's wrath turns it on his bauji. "what can I do, I learned from my father how to behave when I get too angry. Didn't you hit my mother? What if such a hit had killed Baba or me in the womb then? Don't accuse me." KN chose the perfect time to speak the truth for once in his life just to thwart any prasadi from SS. SS has no words to defend himself from the truth in KN's words. It is often said that children teach their elders a lesson or two about life and this was one of those moments. The timing stinks for SS, both his sons were calling him out on his deficiencies as a parent when he was feeling down and out.
KN waits in anticipation hoping Kesar will end her life giving him an easy way out of this marriage. He rips the report apart disappointed when Krishna and Prats save Kesar. Prats has stepped in again and foiled his future plans. Good going Krishna and Prats!
KESAR SAKTHI SINGH
Sadness is always the legacy of the past, regrets are pains of the memory.
GANTI DADI
Please explain why your silence makes more noise than thunder.
Even silence speaks - Hausa Proverb
He who does not understand your silence will not understand your words. ' Elbert Hubbard
Ganti Dadi rises in shock and drops her bell. She is disgusted at Amma's ranting and in tears saddened by Kesar's lost dreams. When Kesar locks herself in the kitchen she is the only senior member of the family ready to help Krishna and Prats in their efforts to stop Kesar from going through with her attempted suicide. She watches Kesar pour the kerosene over herself, desperately shakes her head and rings her bell pleading with her to stop. When Krishna and Prats finally body slam the door open she joins Prats in hugging Kesar as she cries her heart out.
KRISHNA SINGH
The dew of compassion is a tear ' Lord Byron
After the last few tense and dramatic moments Krishna watches Kesar on the floor in Prats's arms crying her eyes out. Krishna stands in the kitchen wiping away his tears, angry, sad and helpless.
PRATIGYA KRISHNA SINGH
The most important things are the hardest to say, because words diminish them."
There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love - Washington Irving
The greatest healing therapy is friendship and love ~ Hubert H. Humphrey"Let me die, my world is shattered. I don't have anything left in life", she cries uncontrollably. Prats consoles Kesar "What happened to you was wrong, but don't blame yourself for this. I know a woman thinks she is complete only when she becomes a mother. But if God had other plans for you, we can't deny that. With courage you can face these situations. Some situations change our destiny, don't give up your courage." Very heart breaking and gut-wrenching and a brilliant performance by Kesar.
Preview: SS is seated at the dining table quietly. Takurain watches as Prats takes some milk for Kesar. As Prats turns to go, Takurain stops her. Prats asks her "so there is no milk for her too"? Krishna who is also seated at the dining table is shocked.
Comments: Is Krishna finally begin to realize that all is not as it seems. The walls in the Niwas have many secrets to tell. Like it or not, the time for Krishna to hear those secrets is fast approaching. Life as he knew it will never be the same again. Baba get ready for a new beginning.
There were two teams today, with Krishna and Prats with Kesar and Ganti Dadi in the kitchen vs. RED and Piasiya who seems to have joined the enemy.
SS stood there an old man, bent and weary, his dream of having a pure bred Takur heir going down the drain. What he probably didn't accept was that his son never wanted a child with his wife. Amma stood there striking a pose not budging an inch to save her badi bahu, the very bahu for whom she accused Prats of not having shed a tear. She kept asking why a black shadow had come over her house. If she looked in the mirror she will have her answer. KN may have spoken the truth today to SS but that didn't make much of a difference. How can a man watch in cold contempt his wife attempting suicide? Was there not an ounce of humanity left in him? Just when we thought he was capable of love, we see this. He should stand with his mother in front of that mirror. Piasiya, for a maid has too much of a say, will anyone be able to shut her up?
SS was a haggard old man today, a king who had lost his crown. He may soon be Takurain's joru ka ghulam. Maybe calling Baba that all these months was projection on his part. He has evolved from a man who beat his wife with his worn slippers almost every day to one who was hand in glove with her, her partner in crime with a mutual enemy in Prats. The one they believe stole their son from them. If truth be told, they had driven him away with their hatred for a woman that he loved more than his own life. That kind of love is foreign to the Takurs. They don't understand the meaning or value of love.😕
It seems that the recent string of events have all been eye openers to Krishna in small increments. He always thought his home was a khaidkhana but little did he know that he lived with inmates, cold-blooded people who are out for blood ready to kill his wife without a second thought. It's time for you to leave the Niwas and make a fresh start with Prats even if it means you start from the ground up. After all adversity builds character in a man. You may be forced to face your deficiencies. Wouldn't you rather know what your challenges are and do something to rectify it than to life in a fool's paradise believing in a life that has been built on shaky ground?
