DOTW- New Moon-A New Lunar Phase?

From Wikipedia, "a new moon is a lunar phase that occurs when the moon, in it's monthly orbital motion around the Earth, lies between Earth and the sun, and is therefore in conjunction with the Sun as seen from Earth. At this time, the dark portion of the moon faces directly toward Earth so that the moon is not visible to the naked eye. Why do you think this book is called New Moon, and can you relate the story to the lunar phase?

My Thoughts

Okay, so Bella and Edward are the Earth and the Moon figuratively. Their lives revolved around each other. Each did not fee whole without the other, like the moon without its' gravitational pull toward the earth. However, he is obsessed with Bella experiencing each "right of passage" like lunar phases. So he leaves and is no longer in her immediate eyesight...but he's still there if only vaguely. This absence and darkness is devastating to Bella. However, she becomes aware that her moon/Edward is what is between her and the sun/Jacob. Even though she enjoys the sunshine, night follows. She comes to accept the reality that she cannot live in constant sunshine, but must accept and bask in the light from the moon, her moon (and i might add "moony") Edward Cullen. What?! I'm a Jacob fan! =)

I wanna hear your thought as well guys...so get to it!

OMG!!! this is such a serious topic... but yes what you say makes sense... may be thats what Meyer thot too..

and i am too lazy to let my mind think :-P

No Matter how much Jacob loved her or comforted her the loss of Edward could not be replaced. Edward holds a speical place in her heart which no one even Jacob can fill in. Their relationship grew pretty fast and the way it grew was with intense connection and way too much to give up and when Edward leaves her she feels like someone just ripped her heart out. I do admit Jacob helped with the pain but he couldn't be her Edward. Even after everything that happened when she sees Edward again she forgets and forgives. Jacob&Bella's strong friendship truns out to be thin as a thread because in the end Bella tells him in his face ... "Its him, its always been him." So Their was never a choice it was always Edward.

OMG...That's really a nice topic to discuss !!

Well I agree with you. Edward is Moon, Bella is Earth and Jacob is Sun.And like you said Bella always knew this, that Edward is somewhere there,though he left her and did took all those things with him which could have reminded Bella of him. But we know that, he kept them under floor of something.

And Bella was completely doing insane things Like Edward's illusion when she was in some danger, his voice. Jacob was Bella's sun, who was always there to bring happiness for her but again her happiness was in dark night with Edward,the Moon. And yeah New Moon followed by Eclipse....lolxxx
