To Love Again - Part - 26

'Daadima, I can't tell anything to Geet now. She can't take the burden now' Maan tried to convince Daadima not to tell Geet about Sameera. Daadima wondered for a while and still she could not think of a single reason why they should hide it from Geet. 'No Maan, the sooner we tell her, the better it will be' Daadi tried to change Maan's decision. Maan looked down at the ground stubbornly, telling Daadima what he wanted.

Geet was enjoying her breakfast slowly with Daadima, as Maan didn't appear to the breakfast table yet. 'Good morning, my beautiful ladies' Maan came behind them, hugged Daadima from behind and placed a gentle kiss on Geet's forehead before he sat down. None of the ladies greet him in return. 'Why? What happened? Sorry I was late' he apologized to them. Daadima winked at Geet and she too smiled. 'Are you on a muh vruddh?' He asked again and Geet opened her mouth to answer. 'Geet beta, we have to go to the park today, for a walk, you need to walk now' Daadima interrupted her.

Maan smiled at Geet 'Geet and walking? No way! Daadima, you have to go with one of the guards here' he mocked at Geet, ignoring about Geet and Daadi's small game on him. 'See. Daadima. I always say that Maan teases me too much' Geet complained to Daadima, who was about to burst into a laughter. 'Maan, come home early, to take Geet for an early evening walk' Daadi ordered Maan before he left for the office.

Daadi helped Geet to get up from her chair and headed towards the garden with her. They talked about the baby for sometime and Daadi focused her talk about Maan 'Geet beta, you know when Maan was a baby I used to change his diapers'. Geet giggled 'Daadima, didn't he cry out loud, not wanting you to do so?' Daadi shook her head and told that he wasn't that stubborn before, but it was a few years back he was changed into a man with irony heart. 'I'm really grateful that you came to his life and you have brought back the real Maan' Daadi kissed on the forehead of Geet lovingly.

'What's the matter Daadima? What happened?' Geet looked at the teary eyes of Daadi as she spoke. Daadi walked away from her and pointed on a white rose among the flowers in the garden 'Geet, this is a lovely rose that anyone would want to pick, but one may get hurt if s/he is not careful' Daadi spoke to her. Geet was confused, not able to understand what Daadi was talking about 'Daadima, I didn't get it?' she asked.

'I know it is difficult and I don't know from where to start. I wonder why this is happening to Maan all the time.' Daadi complained to Geet. 'I know it will be hard for you and it hurts a lot. I do understand your condition, but you should know it' Daadi held Geet's hands as she spoke.

It was during a party held at the college, Maan was introduced a beautiful girl named as Sameera, who was the queen of many of the young gents at the college then. Maan being more of a playboy then, tried hard to win her heart like most of the boys did. Little did he know Sameera always loved money and beauty? She was among the girls who cheated their partners on achieving what they intended to get.

Sameera was introduced to the Khurana family by Maan on his twentieth b'day party. Daadima welcomed her expecting her to be the only girl who could keep Maan happy forever. Naintara was the only one who smelled the coffee and vowed to spill it all over the family by Sameera. They became close friends within a short period of time, besides giving a single hint to the rest of the family members.

Maan noticed the change in Sameera after the party, but she denied it saying that Daadima didn't like her to be with him. He tried to convince her in many ways and accepted her only condition, which was to be with her always. Sameera got a job at Khurana Constructions, which helped her to complete her task easily than she dreamt about it. She started to spend more time in the Khurana mansion and in the office than her very own house, making Maan to think that she really wanted to be with him for the rest of his life.

'Sam, I have a surprise for you' Maan said to Sameera over the dinner table. Sameera glanced at his beautiful eyes that have unconditional love for her. For the first time, she felt guilty of what she was doing to him, wanting to correct all her mistakes. It was too late for her now; though she wanted to bring back everything she would never be able to do so. She came back from her thoughts when Maan touched her shoulders helping her to get up from the chair 'shall we dance?' he offered his hand to her. With hesitation she held his hands and moved to the dance floor, with the rest of the couples enjoying the dim light and the romantic music at the restaurant.

Maan drove her back to home and helped her to get out of the car. He lifted and carried her inside and made her to sit on the couch as he proposed her 'will you marry me, Sam?' he held a ring to her finger. She wanted to withdraw her hands, but her actions become so controlled with the power of this man in front of her. He kissed her finger after placing the ring on her finger and slowly moved his face towards her.

'I'm sorry Mr.Khurana, I can't offer the deal to you, we have a better proposal, it has one more advantage than yours' one of the board members told Maan as he interrupted them. It was the first time; Khurana Constructions was ditched in front of the heads of the respected construction companies. Maan become furious and he called Sameera to share his rejection and sadness, thinking that she would support him.

'I'm sorry Daadima, something has gone wrong, and I will find it for sure' Maan vowed in between his tears to Daadi. Daadi was shaken from the power in his voice; she felt that there is someone who tried to ruin her grandson for sure. She tried to convince Maan, but Naintara added fuel into the burning fire then 'Daadima, I wonder why no one trusts Dev for anything, if Dev was there with Maan today he would definitely helped to sort this out.' 'What do you mean Naintara? How dare you interfere with our family issues' Maan yelled at Naintara for the very first time 'Daadima, tell her to go away from here before I lose my temper'

A week later, Daadi over heard a phone call between Sameera and Naintara talking about having a lunch together to celebrate their success. Daadi asked Maan whether there was anything that Sameera took part in to win, and told what she heard from them. Being a responsible man, Maan didn't want to believe what Daadi said to him, but the thought haunted him for a long time. 'Sam, shall we have lunch together today?' Maan spoke to Sameera over the phone. 'Sorry Maan, I'm having a terrible headache today, we will go tomorrow' Sameera excused herself from going to lunch with him. 'Ok, then I'm coming with medicines' Maan was concerned about her so much. 'No, I had medicine and I will sleep for a while and will be alright then' Sameera would never lose her words to shut Maan's mouth.

'Sorry Maan sir, your driver isn't here' Maan's secretary informed him as he asked for the driver. He took a taxi and went to the address given by Daadima earlier that day. He was stunned, his feet frozen and his eyes widened because of what he saw. 'Sam and Rahul together' he murmured to himself. How could Sameera ditch him for Rahul? How could she betray him, taking away everything from him? He felt tears gathering into his eyes as he stepped back slowly, leaving the restaurant. He sat back on the taxi and headed back to the office, feeling rejected and cheated. 'So, Sam has helped Rahul to win the deal' he murmured to himself as he thought about what exactly had happened to his proposal.

Sameera called him several times, but he ignored all her calls, not wanting to say a single word to her. It was in the late evening Sameera finally came into his room, to meet him. She sat on the bed next to him and caressed his back with her fingers. 'Stop it! Leave me alone' Maan yelled at her pushing her away from him. 'Maan, what happened?' she asked him as she landed on the floor. 'Shut up! Just shut up and leave me alone' he got out from the bed and held her hair firmly 'you want to know what had happened to me? What had happened to you, tell me? What didn't I give you, for you to do this to me? I don't mind you cheating me, but why did you offer my business deals to others?' his voice becomes louder with his actions. 'Maan, listen to me, I didn't cheat you and also I didn't offer your business deals to anyone. Naintara bhabhi asked to me to give a copy of the deal, I gave it to her and I really don't understand what you are talking about' Sameera managed to say in between her sobs. 'Then what the hell were you doing with Rahul?' Maan freed himself from her as she tried to hold him to her. 'I went there to meet Naintara bhabhi and Rahul just came to talk to me as I was alone before bhabhi arrived' Sameera justified her reasons to him. 'Very well planned, you did everything, be it because Naintara asked you to do or not, I don't care at all, but you did all this, yes or no?' Maan demanded her to agree with him. 'Actually,'' Sameera started to explain but Maan held her cheeks with his trembling fingers 'yes or no' he repeated again. 'Yes, yes' Sameera answered freeing herself from Maan and ran out of his room crying.

'Since then Maan has distant himself from all of us, spent most of his times on camping. He built a wall out of iron around him, till he met you' Daadima turned to face Geet, who was sitting on the swing. 'Geet beta, what happened? Is anyone out there? Chandu, please come here soon' Daadima cried seeing the blood drowned face of Geet.
