Like all of you, I am so sad after watching today's episode...my God. How the lives of those poor children were ruined on that night by the selfishness, greed, and carelessness of "mature" adults--not just losing a father, but losing love, the sense of security and of home, of belonging to someone for life. Gosh, children are so much like glass. Once hurt, broken, they rarely fully recover. It changes everything for them, and that is what we saw today.
As I was responding to Anu's post on AS, I was thinking of one thing: Does Dutta know in some way? He was young, but I am sure he remembers his father. Even AS remembers Dutta's fear of his father. I don't think Dutta understood what happened that night fully--bechara, how could any child understand such a twisted thing?...that his father put him up as the pot during his card game, that his father was okay with giving him away to a complete stranger. It is this one thing I am grateful for, that most likely Dutta does not understand this part of that night, and I am thankful to AS for never reminding him of it too.
But I think Dutta might know or sense--that was somehow responsible for the tragedy, which of course he was not; he was merely an innocent child. Could this explain the following?
1. His fierce attachment and protectiveness over his sisters and AS? Particularly Kala, who was the most affected? And his closeness / soft spot for Roops, who never knew her father?
2. His anger at people and at life, and at not being able to trust people's intentions?
Could this whole FATHER track in combination with the FACE REVEAL be the biggest life lesson for Dutta? A moment of truth in his life, if you will...a lesson about love, forgiveness of others, trust, and self-forgiveness? I don't know, perhaps I am off here. But these two stories coinciding has a purpose, no doubt. Now whether this is to advance the Tasha romance or to unravel Dutta's psyche and be a defining moment in his life, I do not know. Perhaps it is both.
What do you think?
