We wake up from a dream with a strong feeling of having had important realizations. But we don't recall what they were. We come to consciousness in the morning, and lie awake in our own bed, with the sense that we have just arrived from another place than this, a different situation. But we are here now. Like someone getting out of water is wet, we arise from our bed awash with the redolence of that "other" and yet, as often as not, we don't even remember what that "other" was, where it was, what exactly it involved. We are, in short, bereft of the richness of just a moment ago.

Dream researchers have discovered several distinct categories of dreams, and these dream categories can be very useful both to people attempting to interpret their own dreams and to professional psychologist and therapists striving to interpret the dreams of others.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A DREAM ?

According to some, a dream is a trip into the subconscious mind. Others believe a dream is just a person's imagination being allowed to break free.Perhaps it is a little bit of both.

Discuss whether dreams are related to our sub-conscious thoughts ? Are they just an Apparition ?? 😃

This is really interesting.
I think dream is basically related to your subconscious mind. But am sure there is something beyond normal connected to dreams, as when our conscious mind is asleep, how is our subconscious mind able to play like this and generate stories, some of them which makes a lot of sense too 😲!
From the options you have given above, I would say mine is a mix 😕.
I have heard lot of people being able to see their future or other's future in their dreams. Can we also have a discussion on that?

Dreams are a great guide
Dreams sometimes talk to us
At times our deepest fears are reflected too
Sometimes we can create our own dreams
Reality too is just another dream ...
Ah dreams, I simply love them.......

I view dreams as some kind of mulfunction of the sleep. If you are really asleep , there should not arise any dream at all. There are people who dreams and they physically talk, cry , throw, walk and shout. It is kind of brain mulfunction , because it also takes control of the body!!!

Dreams should not be considered as a malfunction of the sleep. The dreams that we can recall, mostly occur during the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage of sleep , which usually occupies about 20-25% of our sleep time with some variotions due to age and other factors. The REM stage is a normal stage of sleep so dreams cannot be said to be a malfunction of the sleep. But yes during the deep stage of sleep there are no dreams ...I suppose you confused it with that, but that stage is just another part of normal pattern of sleep cycles. Infact a recent study showed that lack or reduction of REM stage can lead to some psychological disturbances.

I think dreams are more than that, like people seeing their future in dreams 🤔. And sometimes I have noticed sub-conscious mind is more intelligent that conscious mind.

I believe Google Books has the full version of Freud's Interpretation of dreams - http://books.google.com/books?id=OSYJAAAAIAAJ&pg=PR1#v=onepage&q&f=false

The book should be available in other online sites like Gutenberg as the original publishers copyright is expired.

Dreams are like things that go on at the back of our minds, and when we're asleep . . we get to witness em or something. Like you said, our subconscious thoughts. 🤔

I have dreamless sleeps often, and when not . . . it's a total chaos. When I wake up in the morning, I never understand anything out of what I remember from the dream. Like, I have so much in mind and that just mixes up. 😲

Sometimes I wake up with a jerk, like I bumped into some car in my dream or something. But this is quite rare. My dreams can be really scary at times. 😆

This topic is quite intriguing, it's gonna be nice reading what you guys have to say. =)
