I didn't count the 22 or 24 variations when Sukhvinder sang the original (took Subhash Ghai's word for it).. but then that's hardly a parameter to compare singing!!

I think all said and done both were excellent in their own ways. Hemu was good and so is Karunya. Cant differentiate between them. But Hemu had given little more feel for the song. Overall both were very good.

I don't konw if I am right or wrong but from my memory Hemu was pronouncing "prem payala" instead of "prem da pyala". 😕 I don't quite remember it exactly but if I am wrong please correct me.

I believe the two phrases you mentioned both appear in the song.

Somehow, I guess I had higher expectation from Karunya for this song. He did well overall, but there was a section I thought he missed a couple of high notes. I thought he cold have done a little better.
