Hi everyone!
So the roller coaster continues 🤢...don't say I didn't warn you about what's coming as I try to get this whole Prashant storyline finished 😕
I'm sorry I made some of you depressed with the last chapter ...I had a lot of fun writing Devdas Prem 😳 I was channeling my favorite Indian actor SRK...wondering what would he do in a scene like that? 😆
Anyways, onto the next chapter. Don't know if it will satisfy some of the PH romance you guys crave 😳
Chapter 41: Beautiful Hangover
Prem slowly opened his eyes feeling woozy and an intense pounding in his head. He smacked his lips wondering why his breath stunk so badly and why that same smell seemed to be all around him. He gingerly sat up using the wall to brace himself and then looked around him surprised to be in someone's bathroom. His body was stiff from sleeping on the bathroom floor and it was making it even harder for him to focus. He blinked several times and then as his mind gradually awoke he realized he was in Heer's bathroom at the townhouse. He scratched his head trying to think how he had gotten there. Prem could only see bits and flashes of the previous night. The last thing he remembered was driving to the liquor store and then calling a cab to go to a park. From the park he must have walked to the townhouse Prem reasoned. How he got inside he couldn't remember because as far as he knew no one was at the townhouse. Heer and Meher were at his house. Prem got up and stumbled forward hitting his head on the corner of the sink. He groaned loudly in pain. His headache intensified as he lied on the floor holding his head. There was a sudden stream of bright light hitting his senses and he writhed from the brightness wanting nothing more than to return to the comfort of the dark. A pair of small tender hands immediately appeared out of nowhere and pulled his hands away so they could examine his head. Prem stared up thinking he was seeing an angel. There was a slight haze surrounding the feminine figure. Her face was etched with concern and her eyes carried a warmth that could sooth any soul. Prem continued to gaze thinking how odd this angel looked a lot like his Heer. "Prem?" she called out to him. He gave a slight grin amazed that she even sounded like her too. "Prem?" she called again. "Oh God, you're bleeding. How many fingers am I holding up?"
Prem dazedly looked at his angel and said, "Two?" The angel sighed in relief and opened the medicine cabinet to get the first aid kit out. Prem sat back up and groan in pain as his eyes accidentally met with the bright light that hung above. He blinked several times before he felt the angel's hands on his face again. His eyes slowly came back to focus and he realized he was looking at Heer. "Heer?" he tentatively called.
"Yes Prem," she answered as she cleaned him with antiseptic.
He winced at feeling the cooling liquid against his open cut. Heer gently blew on his forehead to ease the pain. "Wh-what are you doing here?" he asked with confusion.
"I live here," she answered with some concern. "Do you remember anything from last night?" Prem sat there staring off into space trying to see if he could see anything more than the bits and pieces he saw earlier. He sadly shook his head. Heer figured something like this was going to happen. A part of her was glad he couldn't remember because of the words he had said the night before but a part of her was worried because of what had happened the night before. She placed a band-aid on his wound and gently patted his cheek, "Don't think too hard. You need to rest."
He nodded his head and then struggled to stand up. Heer grabbed him trying to support his weight on her shoulders. "I feel like crap," Prem mumbled. "And I smell awful. Can I take a shower? "
"Are you going to even be able to stand in there?" she asked.
"I can manage," he replied and removed his arm from Heer's shoulder. "I want to get cleaned up before I crash again."
"Well, I don't have any clothes to give you. You're sherwani is a mess. It has to be dry cleaned. I can at least throw your undershirt and boxers in the washing machine...if you don't mind hanging in a towel for a couple of hours," Heer said.
"How do you know I wear boxers?" Prem asked.
Heer blushed, "Um, when I was taking your sherwani off last night...ah, y-your pant kind of s-slipped down," she stuttered.
"Oh, okay," he simply stated. Heer was a bit surprised by his reaction. She was expecting a cheeky comment like 'if you really wanted to know if I wore boxers or briefs you could have asked me or I'd would have shown them to you without you having to wait until I was unconscious to check.'
Heer left Prem in the bathroom and waited patiently outside. She heard the sounds of him brushing his teeth and then him reaching over to slide the shower curtain open to take his shower. Heer waited a few minutes before opening the door to grab his discarded clothes. She tried not to look at the shower curtain. Even though it had a sea shells design pattern on it, there were still a lot of parts of the shower curtain that only contained the clear plastic. If the shower didn't steam up enough you could still sort of see through it. Heer bent down and quickly grabbed his clothes but in her haste one of his socks dropped out of the pile. As Heer glance back down to locate the sock her eyes caught Prem's back view as he stood underneath the shower head. His hands braced against the white tile letting the water trickled down his strong shoulders and toned back. Heer tried not to let her eyes linger too long and went back to locating the sock. She picked it up but the sock fell back onto the floor again as if mocking her and telling her it wanted to stay in the bathroom. Heer really wanted to cruse the stupid sock for not staying put. Her breath suddenly caught in her chest as she saw Prem turn sideways in the shower. He bent his head forward to let his hair drench itself thoroughly underneath the running water and then brought his hands up to rubbed his face and slick back his hair. The wet side profile of his was too darn alluring that Heer was having trouble telling herself that she shouldn't be looking. Heer knew she was going to get busted soon if she didn't quickly leave. All Prem would have to do was to turn his head a little more and he would see her. With full command she grabbed the stubborn sock and turned around thankful that he did not see her. As she stepped forward to walk out of the bathroom she heard Prem's voice ask, "Do you want to join me?" Heer turned bright red and ran out of the room while Prem stood there smirking underneath the shower.

Heer hurriedly made her way downstairs her cheeks as red as apples completely embarrassed that she had gotten caught. She threw his clothes into the washer and started the load. It then suddenly dawned on Heer as she made her way into the kitchen that she needed to call Preet to find out what was going on in the Juneja household. She waited impatiently for him to pick up as she heard his cell phone playback ringtone play. She was soon greeted by a muffled sound. "Preet?" she called. She heard some rustling like he was moving away to find a place to speak. "Preet?" she said again.
"Sorry, was in front of family," he whispered. "I was hoping you would call. PB's not answering his cell phone. Harman and I made up some cover story but I don't know how long that's going to last if we don't find him. Are you okay? "
Heer was touched by his concern. "I'm fine. Thanks, Preet. Your brother is here with me."
"He is? Um, are you two okay?" he probed. Heer sighed and filled him in on last night's event minus certain details. "So he's probably got a pretty big hangover right now."
"He can't remember much from last night," Heer said sounding slightly disappointed.
"You really want him to remember?" Preet asked. "Why remember a bad fight? Consider it a blessing if he doesn't remember anything."
"But how are we supposed to move forward after this?" Heer asked.
"You girls...always wanting to talk about it afterwards...I'll never understand. What happened in the past well, happened in the past. Just shrug it off and move forward," Preet replied and then realized what he had said was probably highly insensitive. "Sorry, Heer...what I mean is...um..."
"It's okay Preet. I get what you're saying. I just don't want to have another fight again over the same things being said," Heer replied. "Listen, could you bring some clothes over for Prem? His sherwani needs to be dry cleaned. I don't think we should let the parents know he got drunk and ruined his clothes."
"Yeah, sure no problem. Is he still totally out of it?" Preet asked. "I told my parents he woke up really early in the morning to go to the library and study."
"If you mean is he still stumbling...yes, a little. I don't know how responsive he's going to be," she answered.
"Okay I'll be over in a few with some clothes and other stuff. Hey, I know I don't really have a right to ask this but what are you guys going to do about Prashant?" Preet asked.
Heer knew that was the million dollar question weighing on everyone's mind. "Prem and I are going to have to tell our parents together," Heer finally said after a long stretch of silence. "Let's just hope nothing else happens while we try."
"Hey, don't jinx yourself," Preet said. "We don't want any bad luck coming our way."
"You're right. Okay see you later," she grinned and hung up.
******************************************
Heer went back up to her room just in time to see Prem come out of the shower. He was still slightly wobbly but he greeted her with a towel wrapped around his waist and a naughty smile. Heer gently roamed her eyes along his bare chest amazed at how smooth and clear his skin was. Her gaze fell on his pectoral muscles, taut and firm and then towards his well toned stomach. The hours at the gym with Kunal had paid off as she could see a shadow of a two-pack emerging from his abs. Prem smiled at the way she was looking at him. She was the only one he would give permission to look at him in that way. "So," he said drawing Heer's attention back to his face and not his body. She blushed at being caught looking at him inappropriately for the second time that day. "Should I sing jab se tere naina for you and do the towel dance?" he smirked as he dramatically spread his arms out. (*And just for kicks for those of you who want to see Ranbir do the towel dance...hehe... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjs4cLJfn4A) He then winced as a sudden throbbing pain from the back of his head pounded forward. Heer gave him a serves you right look for getting too hyper too soon. He held his head and moaned, "Uh, this headache."
"Do you think you can eat something?" Heer asked as she handed him a bottle of Tylenol.
Prem held his stomach, "Please don't mention food," he replied.
"It's not good to take it without having something in your stomach," Heer said. "How about some milk?"
"The Vitamin Water will be okay," Prem said taking it from her hand. "And the word milk just makes me want to throw up." He took a couple of gulps of Vitamin Water and then took the Tylenol. Prem made his way over to the bed and slipped into the left side. Heer tucked him in and then noticed that his hair was still very wet. "You didn't dry it enough," she said running her hands through the damp strands. She quickly got a towel and proceeded to dry his hair for him. Prem grinned as he sat there his back leaning against his pillow with Heer attentively toweling him dry. He playfully pulled the towel out of her hands and smirked. "Prem stop playing around and give it back," she ordered. "You're going to get another shooting pain from your headache." Ignoring her he pulled her onto his chest and smirked. Heer looked up into his warm brown eyes their faces inches away from each other. She was having trouble digesting this behavior from him especially since he couldn't remember anything from the night before. If he had, would he even be acting this way? Prem rubbed his nose against her's and gently captured her lips. It was a sweet but brief kiss. "That's all I wanted," he grinned.
Heer patted his cheek, "Now rest." He childishly nodded his head and slipped back down. Prem winched again as another shooting pain entered his head. "I told you," Heer said and then gave him a kiss on the forehead. "After your nap you're going to eat something I don't care if you don't feel like it...you have to. I'll make you some soup, okay?"
"Okay," he grumbled and then closed his eyes.
Heer smiled and quietly closed the door behind her. She made her way down to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator taking out the ingredients to make Prem some soup. She was half way done when she heard the doorbell rang. Heer thought it was Preet and rushed towards the door only to find Prashant standing there with a large brown bag. "Wow, that paper must have been serious it's like noon and you're still in your pajamas? I thought I bring some lunch for you. Is Chinese okay?" he greeted and walked into the house. Heer stood by the door feeling really reluctant to close it. Prashant looked at her questioningly. "Um, are you going to close the door? Or are you inviting the neighborhood squirrels to lunch too?"
"Gee, I don't know about being called a neighborhood squirrel," Preet said as he suddenly appeared through the doorway. He gave a sly wink at Heer who displayed a relieved look on her face.
"Something sure smells really good!" Harman said as he popped into the house. He was carrying a black duffle bag in his hands. Heer glanced at him mildly surprised that he was there but glad he came.
Preet eyed the brown bag in Prashant's hand, "Awesome...I'm starving so what did you get?" He strolled over and started inspecting the contents. "Hmmm...vegetable spring rolls, chicken lo-mein..."
Prashant slightly frowned at his actions. "Why don't I set this down in the dining room? Instead of you reaching into the bag like this...you can have a proper look that way."
"Yeah, yeah that's a great idea," Preet replied and followed him into the dining room.
Harman glanced over to Heer with a nod indicating they should go and give the duffle bag to Prem. They silently made their way into her room and found Prem fast asleep. "I can't believe Prem Bhaiya got so drunk last night," Harman said looking at his brother's sleeping form. Heer looked down feeling rather guilty after all she was the reason for his current state. "Don't worry Heer Bhabhi everything is going to be okay."
"Bhabhi..." she whispered staring at Harman slightly stunned.
He smiled, "Preet told me everything. You two sure got yourselves in a situation. Anyways I'm sure it will work itself out. You got another player on your team to help you out. Don't hesitate to call."
"Harman," she said looking at him lovingly. "Thanks."
"My pleasure...anything for my Bhaiya and Bhabhi," he replied. "So, the duffle bag has a fresh set of clothes and his backpack with a couple of his books. We didn't see his car around the neighborhood do you know where it is?"
"I have no idea. He said something about taking a cab last night," Heer said. "He told me he doesn't remember much from last night."
Harman rubbed his chin thinking. "So, he took a cab, huh? Well, I guess he was smart enough to not drink and drive. Maybe he left his car near one of the liquor stores...but that could be anywhere." Harman saw the worried look on Heer's face and gave a comforting grin, "Don't worry...let Preet and I handle this. Let's first have some lunch, get rid of Prashant, and we'll work out how to get Bhaiya back in the house without worrying everybody."
******************************************
Prashant wandered over to the kitchen wondering what the boiling sound he was hearing was coming from. He saw a half made pot of soup. As he went to turn the stove off he was suddenly stopped by Heer's hand. Her slender fingers where holding onto his masculine hand. Prashant felt a tiny tingling sensation spread from his hand out to the rest of his body. A gentle smile tugged at the corner of his lips at the contact. He glanced over to see her almond shaped eyes sparking with emotion. "Don't turn it off," she ordered.
Prashant blinked as he snapped back to reality, "Um, sorry...it was boiling really loudly. You lost a lot of liquid and I thought it was best to turn it off."
"Oh, shoot," Heer replied and moved closer to the pot to check. Prashant was right if it was allowed to boil any longer she would have burned it. Heer quickly added some water to the stock afraid it had gotten too salty from the over boiling.
"We have lunch. You don't have to worry about the soup," Prashant said.
"No, I have to get this done," Heer replied.
"It's not good to leave something half done," Preet said as he entered the kitchen. He knew right away that the soup was for his brother. "Let her finish and then we can all sit down and have lunch together." Prashant gave a small smile. He was hoping to be able to spend lunch alone with Heer but Preet and Harman had suddenly shown up. He wondered why they were even there at least he was there to bring Heer lunch but what were their reasons? He quietly followed Preet back into the dining room allowing Heer to finish cooking in peace.
******************************************
Several minutes later the group was eating lunch and chatting away. Harman came into the dining room carrying two glasses of Coke. "Here you go," Harman smiled as he gave Prashant his drink.
"Thanks for refilling it for me," he replied and took a long sip.
"No problem," he replied and continued eating.
The conversation had turned to places they wanted to visit. "I would say my top five are California, Australia, UK, Spain, and Florida," Preet replied
"Wait California and Japan?" Heer asked.
"Yes, I still haven't been to California even though I have relatives there. I never seem to be able to make it over there for some strange reason," he answered.
"It's because you always get yourself grounded by Bauji," Harman laughed. "He refused to let you go anywhere."
Preet frowned, "Don't remind me."
"And the reason for Japan?" Heer continued.
Preet shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know. Thought it would be cool to visit some place in the East Orient. Japan seems like nice place with all the modern conveniences."
"They eat sushi," Harman replied. "You're going to eat raw fish every day?"
"They got to have some other stuff besides that. They have noodles and rice. And they do have dishes that serve cooked fish. I can always eat that," Preet smiled.
"Well, I want to go to Switzerland," Heer began. She was greeted by groans from everyone at the table except Prashant. "And what is wrong with Switzerland?"
"Please don't talk about Switzerland. I've heard Meher go and on about it...yes, there's the SRK tour or whatever it is called," Preet replied.
"It's like every Indian girl's dream or something," Harman laughed. "The perfect romantic getaway."
Heer ignored them and continued on, "So Switzerland and then...UK...even though I've already been I just loved it and would love to go again..." Prashant's eyes lit up at hearing her mentioning his own place of residence. He smiled that he had found the perfect way to make a connection with her. "...then I would say Italy...just love the history there...and then I guess I would say New York and Florida. New York because my brother is there and I feel horrible for not being able to visit him despite being so close and Florida because it has Disney World."
"Ah, Mickey Mouse," Harman grinned. "Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Roo, Rabbit, Eeyore, Wall-E..."
Heer giggled at the way Harman continued to list out characters from the Disney franchise. "Which one is your favorite?"
Harman paused and pondered, "Shrek."
"Dude, Shrek is not Disney," Preet said. "It's Dreamworks."
"Oh, it is? My bad," he replied. "Then I would say Mike Wazowski from Monster's Inc. He was pretty funny."
Prashant was smiling along listening to the conversation when he suddenly felt this shooting pain in his stomach. He grabbed his side and then politely excused himself from the table. The group didn't think too much about it until Prashant came back looking extremely pale. "Are you okay?" Heer asked. "Your face is white."
Prashant gave a weary smile. "No, no...I'm okay. Um, I just got a call and there's a client who needs to meet so I'll just go. I'll see you guys around. Okay, bye," he said and then quickly left the house.
Preet and Heer both gave each other perplexed looks noting how awkward that goodbye was. They both turned to Harman who was laughing hysterically. "What just happened?" Heer asked looking at Preet.
He put his hands up in innocence, "I have no idea I swear," he replied. "Harman what did you do, man?"
"Laxatives...haha...hehe," Harman replied holding his stomach. "Oh man, I was wondering how long they were going to kick in."
"Genius!" Preet replied and gave his brother a high-five. "Pure genius, man. Where did you put them?"
"In his Coke," Harman answered. "I slipped some in his first drink and when he didn't show any signs I put triple the amount in his second drink."
Heer covered her mouth in shock. "That's a lot Harman!"
"Ahahaha...oh, man is he going to be feeling that for several hours," Preet laughed along. "Come on Heer laugh...it's funny...look, at least he's out of the way for the whole day, right?"
She nodded her head and startled giggling along; the laughter coming from Harman was just too contagious.

Prem opened his eyes to the familiar sight of his own bedroom. The darkness outside his windows indicated it had been several hours past sundown since he came home. When he walked through the doors of the Juneja mansion his mother was beside herself with worry at seeing his bruised forehead and pale face. Preet made up some story about falling down the library stairs while carrying books; luckily the elders of the house bought the story. Prem was immediately marched up the stairs to his room to rest. His mother tried feeding him but he refused knowing he couldn't keep anything down. He had eaten the soup Heer had made only to have vomited it up a few minutes later. He sighed as the headache though temporarily gone from the medicine, didn't take away the heavy fuzziness in his head. His eyes turned toward the door as it pushed open revealing Heer with a worried face. "How are you feeling?" she whispered to him as she came to his bed.
"Heh," he replied. "But I think I'm actually hungry now."
"That's a good sign," Heer replied with a smile. "I'll go get your Mom." Prem quickly grabbed Heer's wrist and pulled her back down to his bed. "Prem, let me go get you something to eat," she said.
He shook his head, "No, I want you to make me feel better first." Prem inched his face closer to Heer's and rubbed his nose slowly against her nose and teased her with his lips inching them forward and then pulling them back before making contact. Heer smiled and played along with him feeling his breath intermingle with her's in a sensual but playfully manner until she couldn't take it anymore and impatiently captured his mouth. As the kissing continued Heer naturally moved onto the bed; eventually lying on top of him. They stayed like that for some time until Prem pulled away. "I'll consider that as your apology," he said. Heer slowly weighed his words as he gave her a slight nod, "I remember."
Her eyebrows arched in worry, "Since when?"
"After my afternoon nap," Prem answered.
"So you lied to your brothers about remembering things from last night?" Heer asked.
"They didn't need to know the details about our fight. But I told them where the car was didn't I? I was afraid you'd run away from me if I told them I remembered," Prem replied. "I'm still upset about the announcement."
Heer placed her hand on his cheek, "I'm sorry," she said. "We need to fix this. I want you and me to tell my Mom together. No hiding in the closet stuff...just face to face."
Prem grinned, "I like that idea."
"So, can I go and get your Mom now? And get some food into you?" Heer asked.
"You have my permission," he replied.
Heer grinned and climbed off the bed. Just as she got up Prem's bedroom door cracked open. She felt a rush of cold sweat roll down her spine. She was hoping that the person entering hadn't seen anything. Prem had the same feeling of caution and anxiety as Heer's as he glued his eyes to the door to see who was coming. It was his mother. Gayatri was holding a serving tray with a bowl and a glass of water. "Oh Heer Beta..." she said with a pleasantly surprised tone. She gave no indication that she had seen or heard anything. "Could you help?" Heer immediately rushed over and pushed the door wider and took the tray from her hands. Gayatri smiled and walked towards the bed to inspect her son. She caressed his cheek, "How you feeling Beta?"
"Better, Ma...and a little hungry," Prem beamed as he sat up.
She gave a knowing smile and laughed lightly, "I knew it. So I came with some dal soup mixed with a little rice."
Heer stood there silently watching the mother and son scene unfolding before her. She noticed the great care Gayatri took in feeding her son and the love and warmth emanating from her eyes. Prem sat there like a little boy basking in his mother's presence taking each spoonful obediently. Heer found herself thinking and agreeing that it didn't matter what age you were because when you're sick all you really want is your mother. She decided to quietly leave the two in peace and turned to go when she heard Gayatri call out to her. "Heer, could you get a damp wash cloth for me?"
"Haa, Auntie," Heer said and quickly went to do as she was told. She came back just in time to see Gayatri accidentally spill some water on herself when she picked up the glass of water to give to Prem.
"Oh dear," she mumbled as she got up. "Heer, please continue giving Prem his food," she ordered and then went to the bathroom to dry herself off.
Heer sat down next to Prem and gave him the damp cloth to wipe his face. He smirked and refused to take the cloth from her. She gave him a warning look with her eyes which he ignored. She sighed and wiped his mouth for him but in a playfully mode as she smashed it against his face and pushed it roughly across his mouth. Prem just smiled enjoying it. He then motioned with his eyes for her to feed him. Heer's eyes widen and she shook her head. "You have two arms and hands that work fine," she whispered.
"Ma told you to feed me," Prem replied.
Heer took the bowl in her hands and tried giving him the spoon. Prem crossed his arms and shook his head profusely. "You're such a big baby," she said as she gave into his demands. Prem smiled as she feed him a spoonful of soup. As Heer waited for him to finish chewing someone entered the room. Heer turned to see her mother standing in the doorway with a concern look on her face. "Heer, I need to speak with you," she spoke rather sternly. Prem swallowed uncomfortably at the way Teji was looking at both of them. Heer felt her body flush with nervousness and placed the soup bowl down on the serving tray.
"I think anything you need to say to Heer can be said in this room," Gayatri said as she reentered the room. Teji stared at her friend rather stunned that she had been there the whole time.

I don't know if the next chapter will fit into your expectations of a PH townhouse romance 😛
As for Teji...all will be revealed in due time. Thanks so much for the comments!
