Ashi Nayyar-Change of mind

No offense to the ardent DK/Ashi Nayyar fans (I'm a fairly avid viewer too, not too enamoured about AN's diction & acting), but of late, there have been many times when I was quite convinced that Ashish's expressions were beginning to feel run-of-the-mill, not very versatile and I see him use the same old expressions in most situations. The narrowing of his eyes seems stale to me.

Krutika Desai is certainly very good and wins the hearts of the audiences with her superior acting. I think Porineeta's character is also well acted out.

Of course, what with the silly twists/turns the TD creators are spinning at an enormous rate & making the character of DK seem quite spineless in the past several weeks, guess there isn't much fertile ground to inspire the actor in Ash Nayyar?? Anyways, I felt strongly on these lines in few of the previous episodes and was also wondering (a bit dismally) if the DK charisma had become ineffective on me. I've been just watching old taped recordings.

However, the charm does surface and boy, was I pleased to see this last saturday's episodes (I'm a viewer from Pacific coast) - the prelude to the party. I think DK looked quite smashing and I'm glad my interest was not allowed to wane.

Thats it from me, I'm drowning in monday morning blues ...

Hey soapcynic, i think that u have posted after a long time...

and well with respect to ur post i guess that must be because lately Ashish has not been given any spectacular scenes as such and he has been reduced as a mere spectator of the happenings around with Dish taking all the credit(centre stage)...I agree with u that even I can predict what his reaction is going to be in a next scene. Each actor/actress repeats a set of emotions always. In Ashish's case I would say that his strength is that he does not need any dialogues to convey what is going on in Dk's mind.

And its a universal truth that ppl with negative shades always have a lot more to offer thanks to their diverse characterisations. Your examples of Gargi and pori also illustrate the same point.

Swathi , who is also drowning in mom morning blues (though its close to afternoon here now)

Swathi, its a pleasure to read your updates, along with those of jingle, twine & others. In the prelude to the party episodes asking Disha to accompany him, his annoyance at her subsequent refusal - rampant charm lurking in Ashi Nayyar aka DK's portrayal of these, to help get over the other disappointing scenes.

BTW, my monday morning blues set in a very accelerated manner starting sunday afternoon ;-)

hi

Welcome back and yes i agree Ashish has been limited to Rona dhona and just a spectator of what disha is doing plus i think most of Ashish's acting is done through is eyes...Lately he has not had nay great scene to mention few he had the bedroom scence which was quite nice and the chemistry that we once thought we had lost was there between the two D's and all the havan ep i think he was good becos he was explaining everything to disha through his eyes which was great..

I know some scenes seem tidious and repetitve but still ashish's charm still keeps me going...

Swathi well said...........i agree, his repetitive expressions r a mere result of the scenes he has been given of late..........hopefully this changes in the future.......

Hi soapcynic,

I also agree with swathi that Dk looks repetitive coz of the stale story line and scenes given to him.Director is the captain of the ship, so if he is not doing his job rite everything just falls flat.

BTW we watched the pre party sc yesterday & I kinda liked it. See,Dk is new in the love land so he is still a bit unsure how to react to D. Poor thing is just learning to love and trust.Dk was never sweet or accessible or predictable so I'm liking his lost puppy act. He is not using his invaluable techniques for positioning himself in D's life that's all.

D's cathode or positive electrode & Dk's anode or negative electrode will make a galvanic cell. Wait for the electrochemistry...........

in the begining when dk was potrayed as a man who could create and destroy things ,i just lovedhis personality but recently after dk's release from the jail and his kneeling down infront of gargi and entry of sumitra character dk has been reduced to a mere puppet in the hands of the women in the serial, sometime back he was under the control of gargi now under the control of sumitra .god knows when we will be able to see our old dk back .

present dk is like any other hero in the women oriented daily soaps who hardly have any say in the serial

Samy I also agree with ur point. The bedroom scene before the havan truly showed some good chemistry b/w the lead pair. And my oft repeated suggestion. After the 'Dish admit feelings' scenes, for all those behind us in episodes give TD a miss for 3 days (will give my update on no of days once i watch the episode 2day) else u will also start posting similiar messages for ppl in SA...

coming back to Ashish I would say that he needs to improve in scenes that requires lengthy dialogues. One scene that comes to my mind immly would be the scene wherein he begs Gargi. Though a lot of u liked the scene a lot I would still say that the final scene looked kind of forced and not so natural. He was good but not best. He could have performed better. OF course the other scene would be the 'DK says ILU' scene wherein he looked distinctly uncomfortable especially in all those twirls. (Ashish in case u r reading this pls don't take these remarks negatively. I was just providing my feedback.I consider u to be among one of the fine actors in the younger flock of tv serial actors 2day).

He is good in scenes which require him to show his emotions thru his expressive face. Amazingly I liked his dialogue diction in the jail scene (thanks to memsaab i watched the scene recently). Also the scene where in he showed his anguish that Dish said a lie to him..(DK in the lazy chair scene when he catches Dish's pallu)....

Swathi

PS : Maybe I shud come out with a list of good and bad scenes w.r.t acting sometime. Will start working on that.

Well said Swathi......................Its not Ashish but the Guhas to blame for his acting......................they are making him so emotional with him crying and mouring all the time.....................Well, i hope Ashish reads these comments.......................he can pass it on to the Guhas..................they are damaging his career
