Why are we so sanctimonious?

We appear to have one sterling quality, we love being hypocrites and taking the high moral ground when it suits us esp when its our individual sensibilities that are enraged. Otherwise we turn a blind eye.

We'll get offended and call a character names when she cant forget her ex lover but we'll whole heartedly support and call an artist's wife names and defend the artist when he commits adultery in real life. That's how sanctimonious & double faced we are...

We will watch countless hero and heroines romance diff peope, destroy people's lives when they keep leaving and coming back to each other in TV series in the name of love and entertanment but we'll hurl abuses at an artist for potraying a character. That's how sanctimonious & double faced we are!

The artists whom we seem not to tire idolising, live together, move in and out of relationships and we derive salacious pleasure from lines like"I love her body/curves" or things to that effect but we'll publish articles about serials violating the purity of marriage. That's how sanctimonious & double faced we are...

We're happy to watch intense physical intimate scenes between protagonists when the intimacy is between protagonists we like but the moment the players change, we start protesting about it being a teenage / youth love story. That's how sanctimonious & double faced we are...

We shout ourselves hoarse defending the character we like but turn a blind eye to the fact that they are all one dimensional flawed characters. We just like to idolise them when the characters behave as we want them to. That's how sanctimonious & double faced we are...

Sure everyone has a viewpoint and we get upset when things dont go our way but I dont get this propensity to get vicious, sanctimonious and take a high moral ground.... aur bhi gam hai zamane mein...

And I think fans do become hypocritical, but everyone should remember that this is only a show, and getting so involved is only good to a certain extent. I take that your hinting towards KSG about the adultery part, well we don't about his personal life and in DMG Armaan and Riddhima haven't committed any sort of adultery. Lets wait and see first.

U just can't bash a country like that and very much the artist.. whom u are talking about adultry is just not acceptable..please do not bring in such examples for a fictional show hun..does not sound good to me.

hi well directed towards Indians cos we are like that! By the way + zm an Indian too an very much a part of this diaspora so I am included in the "indian" bit.

The fact i s that we are. Hypocrites I mean, thats not to say that other people are not but we are a lot more. We call a woman ghar ki Laxmi but are the ones who will burn that Laxmi for dowry. I can give you countless examples. We will talk about rights and freedom yet we opress the economically and socially backward classes, plenty more I can think of and I think the above is just another example. As for KSG, dont want to comment as it was not meant to be a kSG post and dont wanna startthat one ;-)

I am very much an Indian and a very proud one at that but that doesn't blind me to our shortcomings. It irritates me to see members up in arms over adultery by a character when they condoned the same (and I do know what I'm talking abt which is why I mentioned it)by an artist they idolised. That's hypocrisy and I'm only calling a spade a spade. And I dont want to go into the artist's details, that wasn't the point of the post. That was simply an example to point out whow we are happy to hvave double standard ;-) but lie you said its a hsow so lets chill!

Ethically, completely agree, cheating is not something I'd condone but then stick to that as a belief, dont change stances to suit yr mood / convinience :-)

AS far as I can see, "the fans" who supported "the actor" are the one who are in favour of the current track as well... So dont understand the hypocrisy!!
