Mumbai Calling for Rubina Dilaik
May 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):One can never predict what fate has in store or what turn may change ones life for ever. And the same seems to be the case with Rubina who essays the role of Radhika in the Zee television show Chhoti Bahu.

It is a well known fact that Rubina who was studying to become an IAS officer had no plans to act. But an audition, initially given for the sake of fun brought Rubina to play the lead in Chhoti Bahu. "Chhoti Bahu called me to Mumbai. I had other plans otherwise. But it seems I was meant to play the Radhika!"

It's been two years since the Shimla based girl first landed in Mumbai and is going great. Rubina is presently continuing with her studies through correspondence along with her acting profession.

Well, guess it was Mumbai calling for this Shimla girl after all.

It seems that a leap in the show is a way of changing the story line when it becomes boring. It can be seen as a means of adding spice to the story too. And now after 'Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo', 'Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat', 'Kashi', and 'Devi' it's the turn of Zee TV's 'Chhoti Bahu' to take a leap. And following the tradition of other shows, this show is about to take a leap of a few years too.

A source informs, "Chhoti Bahu will take a leap of 5 years which will change the entire flavor of the show as the female protagonist will no more be seen in the same avatar. Radhika (Rubina Dilaik) will be the only earning person of the Rajpurohit family due to Dev's loss of memory and thus Radhika will be shown in typical office attire whereas Dev (Avinash Sachdev) will interact with the new family members entering the show."

"The Rajpurohit family will shift from Vrindavan to Agra as Radhika will see Dev in Agra and thus the family will take a decision to shift to Agra in search of Dev. The leap will not change any one, no one will die, no one will deliver a baby and no one will grow older but will just reflect a change of situation. The casting of the new family is on and the new family will be a total entertainment package." signs off the source.

We tried calling Rubina Dilaik and Avinash Sachdev but both of them remained unavailable for the comment.

Let's see how this leap helps the show raise its TRP's!

Priyanka Mishra s Plans To Come back After A Makeover!

By Tejashree Bhotkar on Friday, June 18th, 2010
Priyanka Mishra, who was recently seen in 'Chhoti Bahu' as Vishakha, had exited from the show as per the demand of the script. We were wondering why the actress had vanished so abruptly. But a recent conversation cleared it all.

"Right now I am trying to lose weight, as the audience won't like me in a similar attire all the time. I am, therefore, trying to lose weight and do a makeover in order to come back in a new and sizzling hot avatar." says Priyanka. Her character in 'Chhoti Bahu' was that of a vamp which did not endear her to the people particularly because she played a negative character. But now Priyanka has made up her mind to go for a complete change in look which might make it easier for the people to accept her.

Although the actress has nothing in the pipeline, she is struggling hard to get ready for her come back. What exactly does Priyanka want to change in her look? "Well, I could say that I want to be a size zero (laughs). But yes I am trying my best to bring out something new in me, something that will not make the audience remember me as Vishakha. I will be presenting myself as a brand new package. I just hope that the viewers like me."

That's really interesting. We hope the producers are listening as well!

Has Chhoti Bahu reached its nadir?
Buzz up!

The show enjoyed unbound success right from its launch and changed the viewing pattern of the early evening slot making it a hit.

Once Zee TV clocked 7:30 pm timeslot as the most popular and viewed slots on television after the successful run of Chhoti Bahu, several other shows popped up trying to milk the rising viewership and dethrone Bahu. And persistence resulted in success and soon the new player in STAR Plus' Sasural Genda Phool, became the hot favoruite of the viewers, thereby Chhoti Bahu being sidelined.

Informs our source, "Despite new entries and twists, Chhoti Bahu has not managed to hold on to its position and is plummeting. New shows in the same time-slot are doing well for the rival channels. It looks as if the show has passed its prime and it will be soon axed. Even the channel isn't taking keen interest in the promotion of the show and once the new show is ready to be launched, the axe in likelihood will fall on Chhoti Bahu. Rajita Sharma and Shreya Creations is coming up with shows and DJ's Chhoti Bahu is first in the line to be pulled off."

Despite repeated attempts we couldn't get through Rubina Dilaik. Sukesh Motwani, Zee TV fiction head, too didn't reply to our text message. Although, Avinash Sachdev replied back saying, "I don't have any clue regarding this and I don't think so that it's true. Because the show is still getting TRPs and the audience still loves it."

TV stars on their favourite Superheores
Buzz up!

Soumita Sengupta/Hill Road Media

Superheroes are everyone's childhood fascination. Some kids want to become like them, while some are simply in awe of them. Even when we grow into adulthood, we are still attached to them. We ask TV stars about their favorite superhero and here you go…

Avinash Sachdev
I was never a television or movie guy. My super hero was Akshay Kumar. When I was young I have watched his film Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi and from that day he become my favorite super hero. I love the way he does his own stunts, he is a natural actor.

Twin jhatka for DJ's
Like bad times, good times too don't last for long and DJ's. A Creative Unit will vouch for that. Two of their shows, Chhoti Bahu and Aise Karo Naa Vidaa airing on Zee TV and Colors are going off-air soon. Chhoti Bahu, launched in December, 2008, became a trendsetter and clocked highest ever TRPs in an early evening slot of 7:30 pm. It went on to become the flagship show of the channel. But new shows have managed to make a cut into its viewership and its TRPs have seen a dip constantly. However, Aise Karo Na Vidaa is doing well for the afternoon slot of Colors, still the channel has decided to pull it off. Indya had earlier reported about the probability of Chhoti Bahu going off-air.Two of DJ's shows are going off-air. Chhoti Bahu will make way for Ram Milayi Jodi and it's last telecast is expected to be June 17th. And Aise will air its last epsiode on October 1st. According to sources, Chhoti Bahu will end on a happy note. Apparently, Colors hasn't communicated the reason of pulling of Aise to the production house. Shoot for the same will conclude by 22nd of this month.
