Colours, clothes, rituals, songs of celebration. The small screen has it all. As the festival season begins, audiences will get a taste of festivity and diversity. This Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, Diwali and Christmas, the audience will get to experience the celebration of all festivals on their favourite television shows.

Initially shows only followed their story line and talked about the content related to the story, but now the small screen is all about celebrating real life. With much joy and pomp, the celebrations add a different flavour to the soaps. "Today television has a variety of shows which portrays diverse lifestyles. TV is also a part of our daily life. So celebrating festivals come as a welcome break from the daily routine. Festivals are shown for adding a real touch to the soaps and the viewers also connect well. They love to see their favourite stars celebrating different festivals. Celebrations add a certain flavour and colour. Expensive clothes, accessories, dance, songs and celebrations give a touch of vibrancy," says director- producer Rajan Shahi of Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai.

It's essential to be innovative as far as daily soaps are concerned. "In soaps we deal with daily life, to get a fresh look, these kind of special episodes are required. We recently celebrated Rakshabandhan in three episodes. Indian traditions are all about interpersonal relations and that is where we get into the details and get innovative story lines for the audience," says producer Sudhir Sharma of 12/24 Karol Bagh.

With so much of glitz and glam on the small screen, it definitely does not come cheap. So, the special episodes come with a price tag. "There are special budgets for such shows, sometimes we spend around Rs 5 to 15 lakhs for a single episode. There is a raise of about 30 to 100 per cent compared to the regular shows. I had once spent around Rs 22 lakhs for special episode so the budget really depends on the time and occasion," says Rajan.

Not just the money, there is lot of research and reality check that takes place in advance. "If the writer is not very well-versed then we look at other ways to get it right. We discuss, read books or speak to a team member of that particular religion and then go ahead with the show," says Sudhir.

The entire unit has a blast while shooting festival scenes like the team of Papad Pol that enjoyed shooting the Janmashtami one-hour episode, to be aired tonight on SAB. TV actors enjoy themselves too even though a festive special would mean long hours of shooting. "I enjoy celebrating festivals on my show. Being a Muslim, I hardly get to celebrate these festivals in real life ' we recently celebrated Tej inYeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and it was fun. I also went to Calcutta to celebrate Durga Puja so personally I am learning and getting to know a lot about various festivals. It's a different experience altogether," saysTv actress Hina Khan.

Now we know what Sudhir Sharma means by innovation in interpersonal relations. Actually not surprised at all that he considers the trash he is showing us being creative and innovative.

Mr Sharma sorry to let u know that your writer is definitely not well versed and U HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOT GOT IT RIGHT. All you needed Mr.Sudhir Sharma was to have a discussion with the fans of Neil Bhatt and Smriti Kalra on India Forums and Facebook, and WE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU HOW TO GET IT RIGHT
Can u please clarify and tell us in which religion says it is okay to have a SIL lust after a BIL and be ready to kill her sister. Which idiot team member did u consult and go ahead with this disgusting track.
And you had 3 episodes on Raksha BAndhan. You barely had one episode and within that episode you have so badly insulted the sacred relationship of brother/sister and BIL/SIL.
SHAME, SHAME ON YOU MR. SHARMA FOR CALLING THIS INNOVATION.
LUCKY DREAMS THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS ARTICLE TO US, NOW I REALLY BELIEVE THAT ALL HOPE FOR KAROL BAGH IS LOST.

Innnovative? What world does Sharma live in? There is NOTHING innovative in KB! Even this sick track is so gissta pitta and unorginal that it is shockingily boring. Sharma needs to crawl out of the cave he is living in and quit hanging around the dullards he knows. Either he is an idiot or he thinks his audience is stupid when he thinks we're impressed with rubbish he is turning out these days on KB. Forget the moronic behavior of Mili, Simi Seethi is the biggest numbskull and self-centered woman I have seen on Indian television. She makes the women in the Borgia family look angelic.

Research? Your writers don't even know how to use the internet. Give us a break, these people don't know diddly sqwat! Tell them to do some research on what constitutes a middle class family. PULEEEEEEEEEEZE!!!!

Showing saali falling for jeeju, son trying to kill his father, sister trying to kill her own sister are innovative ideas?šŸ‘šŸ‘ Must say three cheers to so called dumb idiot producer of this show. Better Mr Sudhir Sharma should watch what they are feeding to the viewers before giving an interview, did they show rakshabandhan for three days? Did they show any celebration or festival without any high drama? Where are interpersonal relations in this show? A mother always expects her daughter to be scape goat for happiness of other kids, a MIL and FIL not respecting their daamad and treating him like dirt, a wife not respecting his husband and taking him for granted and always keeping her family before her husband, sister trying to kill her brother. All this crap is a part of Indian tradition?

Really U people do research before feeding the audience? Is there any reality in this crappy show?🤪Do U even take small precautions to make it real?(There is no smell of kerosene in the house when Simi was about to be lighted, simi doesnt have any sense when Milli pulled are duppata from back) In which religion did they teach saali to fall for jeeju, sister killing her sister, son killing his father, wife should not repect her husband?
Shame on U people for justifying your actions😔😔😔 thinking even the viewers are also dumbshells like U.
