Was watching yet another old scene and it occurred to me how different these two men are. Krishna and Shakti Thakur, have a completely different approach to women from each other. Shakti likes to control and possess them, including but not limited to his wife. This control includes physically mistreating them and dominating them. Krishna, on the other hand, sees his wife as an extension of himself. You can see his jaw twitch ever so slightly when someone says anything bad about Prats. And then he will shoot back at that person when he's had enough.
Krishna slapped his wife just once, and that was enough to make him feel guilty and smash his mirror with his hand. Whereas Shakti has no qualms about beating his wife or even a prostitute, as long as he does it in private. Krishna even comes home late and seeing Kesar walking around, warns her against getting caught because he doesn't want her beaten. Such a large schism in personalities between the two brothers, and ironic. Shakti is closer to his father more than his mother and doesn't much care for Ghantilal. Whereas Krishna is close to his parents, but also the grandmother and the sister. Krishna has a much bigger tolerance of women than his brother. Unlike Shakti, he would never think of hitting on his SIL, even as a joke. And even if noone found out.
