Scolded by girlfriend's father, teen kills himself
NEW DELHI: Reprimanded and slapped by his girlfriend's father and smarting under the insult, a 17-year-old student of class XII allegedly committed suicide in Rani Bagh, northwest Delhi, on Sunday. The class XII student emailed his girlfriend and posted a farewell note on a social networking site before eating poison at home.
Two things come to mind

1) Why would anyone commit suicide over being slapped and scolded. I understand that it is insulting and hurtful. At the same time the teenage boy has emotional issues if such actions push him over the edge (either to harm themselves, the girl, the father or other drastic means)

2) What right does anyone have to slap a child not their own. Unless the person actually molested/harassed/raped their daughter there is no justification for slapping or violent means. Of course if both the guy and girl are under eighteen the father can dictate terms/forbid meetings and even get restraining orders if need be - but they have no right to take things in their own hand.

What a tragedy.
We often tend to overreact due to anger and is dealing with kids we should be patient and guide them. Punishments like slapping and caning is entirely out.

I believe, mind can not commit suicide...cos mind is just the traffic of thinking...a thought passes, and another thought come immediately.......when mind disappears or when thought or thinking power disappears...people do these kind of things...!! the fundamental reason, is they have forgotten the language of love. they are no more courageous enough to go into that adventure called love...It is painful, some people cant afford like this pain...sometime they dont feel or dnt understand, that love is the greatest opportunity to grow...!😊

Why Do People Commit Suicide ?

In response to extreme emotional pain, and suicidal thoughts and feelings due to various brain chemistry deficiencies and/or disorders.

Prolonged life circumstances of extreme stress, emotional upset, abuse, poverty, terrible living conditions, neglect, poor health, injury, disability - especially with no apparent hope of change or improvement can and do precipitate depression and suicidal thoughts for some.

What is not commonly known is that

Suicidal thoughts are an involuntary affliction ! We don't choose to think them. Suicidal thoughts just enter, they just come into your mind on their own.

And they don't just sit idly by...
Suicidal thoughts are VERY ACTIVE and have tremendous emotional power !
They push you, urge you, compel you towards suicide.
At times, I felt it almost as an entity darkly drawing me into the dark universe, an eternal vacuum of death
...a wrenching, twisting, turning emotional agony.

The bottom line is that...

Untreated Depression !!

is a major cause of suicide.

    unrecognized undiagnosed
  • untreated
    no treatment unsuccessful treatment
  • relapse

Based on the above it is clear that Suicidal Thoughts acquire a life of its own and become the "Beast" or the "Demon".
It occurs when the extreme pain and depression is unbearable.
Young kids are often untrained in handling emotional disappointments and failures.
Parents often push the kids to the extreme.
Character development through education is more important than academic achievement.

You have got only one life,so can you ever be justified in ending it.
I really dont understand that your environment, situation, peer pressure or whatever and however bad it may be ....are you justified in killing yourself? Is it not a sin?
Agreed that circumstances may show us some tiring times...but even they shall pass,we see people all around whose lives are much more tangled up than ours so I don't think that Teen Sucide is justified...come what may!
