I have mentioned this before and I feel this is the best solution for the current mess - ONE CASE PER WEEK SPLIT IN TWO HALF HOUR EPISODES

Continue with Bi-Weekly but deal with only one case per week. Show one case in two parts with the original team. This will also give the creative team a breather to develop investigative plots. I don't see why this can't be done. We have already seen that cases like Khoon Ka Raaz Jahaz Mein, Sr. Inspector Abhijit and Manali Murder had a Running Time of 60 minutes each and Airtime of 90 minutes with the original team. Which means that the original team is able to give you 60 minutes of footage every week. So we can have two episodes covering one case of 30 minutes Running Time each. It is observed that the show aired before CID on Fri-Sat runs till 10:10 PM, which means till 11:00 PM we have 50 minutes. So a CID episode with a running time of 30 Minutes and Airtime of 50 minutes can be created with the original team. This give SONY its Bi-Weekly, FW Creative Team a breather, lesser work load on the cast and we get our TEAM BACK.

The other advantage is that when a story is split into two. You need two build ups. On Friday night you need to leave the case at such a point that it should force the audience to come back the next day. And then the Second half needs to do justice to the buildup of the previous day. This brings a change in the style of Direction, Screenplay, Dialogs, Performances, Editing, etc. This also reduces the possibilities of the stupid filler tracks as well because there will not be much time to waste; you have to create a buildup where the time will have to be invested. This change with bring a freshness in approach and will keep the team on the toes.

That is not how things work as far as I understand. Take "KOFFEE WITH KARAN" for example, when there was specialtion that this show will move out on another channel, Karan said that the brand name belongs to STAR and if he moved out he will have to create a new show. Now who will watch "KOFFEE WITH KARAN" without KARAN?? Yet STAR would not part with the brand name. That is exactly what hold true here.

It will hurt Sony's ego to change the bi-weekly. If they go back to one case a week or back to weekly once CID, people will think that Sony has failed in its attempts.

They just want to prove that they are right.

When they changed from 1/2 hour weekly to one hour weekly, our trio still had time for CID...but you might notice that in 2004, Aditya sir was appearing in a lot of movies. He stopped doing so many movies once CID became 1 hour show. Sony might have tried to push them further...hence we saw a lot of 60 mins run time episodes, 2 hour specials etc in 2009 end - 2010 beginning to see how many hours they are able to work.

But I guess our trio said 'enough is enough we are not going to push ourselves any further, we need some time with our families too'. Then came the brainwave of new team members.

Yes, because when I was in India, I saw half an episode. Utter nonsense! I understand and appreciate the efforts, but it just doesn't work. Some of the other comedy serials on SAB are more engaging, not that I watch them anyways. Anyways, I didn't even see Days Sir in that episode, so what is he doing in a show where the storyline doesn't suit his personality at all AND where the spotlight hardly ever falls on him?

SET has always, always ignored CID. Its just this year when it reached the 12 year mark, they suddenly wokeup only to mess it further. Morons.
