Construction of Mosque near Ground Zero

A huge controversy had erupted in the States over a proposed site for a mosque near Ground Zero, the former standing ground of the Twin Towers that had succumbed to an aerial terrorist attack about nine years earlier.

The critics of the proposal argue that this Mosque would come as a direct slap in the faces of those 3000 who lost their families on that fateful day of 9/11...and many say that it was a covert plan on the part of the Islamics to signify a "Victory of the Holy Jihad". and in that connection, the President Obama has come under fire from his right-wing critics, who are accusing him of being a "Muslim agent in disguise.". However, Obama's argument was that it is unconstitutional and against the ethics of the American state to tag a whole community with the same brand for a handful of offenders. The debate rages on...with both sides heavy in their respective defences.

I would like to hear out your opinions on this.

I dont think anyone questions about constitiional right to build a mosque there nor does anyone question about Govt approvals, they are there
If the victims of 9/11 think it is insensitive, then I think it is wrong to build something that they feel offensive over there.(Again there is already a mosque in the area, so it is not like someone is disallowing someone to pray over there)
The brave folks who hijacked and flew the planes into WTC did it in the name of Islam, here is some proof https://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2001/sep/30/terrorism.september113
I think New Yorkers oppose the mosque at that spot about 70-30, so if the builders or the supporters think this would create any sort of communal harmony they might be smoking something illegal there. If someone wants to build it just to spite some folks, well then we know what happened in Ayodhya in India and the riots and stuff that followed.
For a man who claims to be intelligent Obama sure puts his foot in the mouth very often.

I think its quite insensitive to insist building a mosque at a site that has so much sadness, death, destuction, connected with it. It would be full of bad vibes ! Moreover, the twin towers that stood there, were razed by an act of terrorism supposedly carried out in the name of Islam. In the interest of peace and harmony ,the mosque can easily be built at some other site that is less controversial.

It's insensitive. Instead put a special memorial hall for the 9-11 victims.

The terrorists that bombed the Towers are not Muslims.
Proper Muslims do not go around killing innocent persons.
I would let the majority decide what they want.

Its two blocks down from Ground Zero not on Ground Zero..! these blocks are pretty big.. i think this new "Community Center" will be great for the area.. it will attract more desi's which in turn will bring more "desi/arabic" foood in the area..😆😆 the foood placess that are here now suck big time.. They have Balcuhi's.. but thats overpriced and they dont even make their dishes spicy even if you ask them to..😡..

i support the building of the "Community Center"

i'll post pictures of the area tomorrow.. i dont have my camera with me today..🤔..

=============================

You know first step towards curing a disease is to accept its existence.

Now how about Muslims around the world for example protest outside Saudi embassy demanding religious freedom in Saudi Arabia. (link - https://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/irf/2009/127357.htm)

A shining example from the great country of Saudi Arabia:

I don't think this is an issue of religious freedom for all and whether it's constituional or not. The issue is plain and simple: LOCATION!
It's very insensitive to build a mosque where over 3000 people died because of some stupid terrorists who killed in the name of Islam. 9/11 is a wound that is still fresh in all American's heart. People have yet to forget it and get over it even though it's been 9 years. And to build a mosque is basically putting salt on wounds. If they really want to build a community center, why not build it somewhere else? I doubt as many people will protest then.
Obama should have stayed shut on this issue like teh Republicans have done.
