Here are the reasons why Sony is to be blamed primarily for yesterday's debacle and why we're the ones who invest our emotional well being naively in this whole affair:

1. Single vote per phone. Sony allows unlimited votes to be given per phone, so 1000 votes to Anuj/Sandeep from a single phone matter more than a single vote to Amey/Karunya from same phone. If Sony stops its hunger for SMS revenue and allows a single vote to be counted per phone number, it would become a level playing field, and reduce regionalism to certain extent

2. Indirect promotion of regionalism by Sony.....If a contestant is always introduced as Himachal ke Anuj, Bikaner ke Sandeep, Hyderabad ka Karunya, Mumbai ka Amey and Chhoti Gaav ki Chhori Antara....What do you expect from Indian Janata ? It's ok to do this till Piano round maybe, but afterwards its blatant regionalism...... You reap as you sow...

3. If a great singer sings badly one day and bad singer sings better than usual on the same day, who is to be promoted by Sony and Judges ? Choice of words, phrases by judges should be predetermined to preserve good singers, or else Janata is going to get confused.....A layperson is not able to distinguish between singers when Top 5 gala starts.....

How many people shouting on this forum today would buy Amey's forthcoming CD ( :-) )....and not download it from net ?

gosh, finally! someone who has written something sensible. i can't believe
how everyone on the forum is reacting to the whole fiasco. getting so upset
and fighting among each other, blaming everyone else and all that. it's so
obvious that it's all a ploy by Sony TV to make money and tug on our
emotional strings!

seriously.. Pagla Kaun? no one but the viewers!!

great post. 👏

Droid,

Well said. It's really eye opening points. We do think about them but no one has mentioned all together. Good points, specially the second one. I am not sure how much sony and II can act on 1st and 3rd but definitely they should be able to follow the 2nd very important point.
If you can write to sony TV your message, would be great (it's your copy-write 😆 )

👏 Well Said!

The loosers are us. Now people are going to vote more and more to make their favourite win. Mainly because their scared to lose their favourite like Amey.

Sony will rake more money. IF we just bought our favourite singers their own albums with the sms money they would be better off.

heloooooooooooooooooo????????????
wake up all of u
sony doesnt care abt u and me it only wants MONEY
it doesnt care if the best singer is out or if we r emotionally disturbed or anything else it only wants MONEY
money is why they r running the show and why they r letting multiple polling
uve gotta realise that due to this drama the trp is gonna go higher and thats what they want!!!!

Think of it, the whole point of voting system is to make money not to have a democratic rule !!
If they have one person one vote kinda rule (like election commision) who is at loss? Does Sony care if worthless singer becomes II?

Practically you're right in claiming that it's against conventional wisdom to deny money by adoptin 1 and 2. But look from another angle, If Anuj/Sandeep become Idol this year, would you be following the Indian Idol - 3 next year as closely you're doing now ? SaReGaMaPa is a better alternative in India, which is practically absent in US (where I live). US has Dancing with celebrities, Skating with Celebrities and other similar formatted shows, but no good singing talent hunt as American Idol !

What that mean is Zee SaRaGaMaPa is going to eat Sony fresh and alive next year if they don't increase the quality of II...... They should think about Indian Idols' long term future and revenue instead of short term SMS revenue and damaged reputation......

What say ? 😉
