Actor Sonu Sood begins shooting for his first Hollywood film Rockin' Meera this week and he is raring to go, he tells Rubina A Khan

Why is it that you have done only four Bollywood films till date?
I am selective about my work. I've been nominated for three films (Shaheede-Azam, Yuva, Aashiq Banaya) out of the four I have done so far. I have done 18 films in the South which have kept me very busy and 16 of those were superhits. Now, I am doing a Hollywood production called Rockin' Meera and I am leaving this week for Bikaner for the first schedule of the film with my co-star, American rapper TQ. I am really excited and looking forward to the shoot and meeting TQ.
Yuva was a landmark in your career...
Definitely! It got me recognition as an
actor and it was a pleasure to work with Mani Ratnam and all my co-stars from Rani to Esha to Ajay to Viveik to Abhishek in the film.
Why do you work more in the South?
I am well accepted there and I have worked with the best directors, so I am very comfortable working there.
Are directors in Mumbai not interested in casting you?
I don't think that is the case. It's just that I have not come across anything that appeals to my creative sensibilities so far.
What films are you going to be seen in next?
I will soon be seen in Prahlad Kakkar's film and Rockin' Meera. I have three releases coming up in the South — Ashoka, One Two Three and Ninjenille.
You have recently rebonded your hair a la many Bollywood actors...
That is for my next film Rockin' Meera.
What do you like doing when you're not working?
I spend most of my time working out and watching films on my home theatre.
Who would you love to work with?
Ram Gopal Varma, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Karan Johar.
Which female actor would you love to pair on-screen with?
Rani Mukherjee.
Viveik Oberoi and you are good friends...
Yes, we get along well. I met Viveik during Yuva which was about two and a half years ago but we really bonded when he took me to the Ayyappa Swami temple in Kerala. Since then, we have promised each other that we will visit the temple together.
