~ Is blood really thicker than water? ~
This was supposed to be the DOTW which I was supposed to open at the start of this week, but I completely forgot. So, I am posting it as a topic today. 😆
Well the main thing I want to focus on in this topic is the common idiom- 'Blood is thicker than water'. It's quite natural and common for people to choose their family over friends or acquaintances without a second thought. Nowadays families tend to go their separate ways even more often than before.
Shekhar and Bimal were friends for so long, and never did they distinguish between their two families. For them, their families were not two, but one family. For Bimal, Shekhar's kids were his own kids, similarly, for Shekhar, Bimal's kids were his kids.
Yet ultimately for Shekhar his own blood became more important. As we already know, in thinking of Anurag's future, he will decide to send Anurag away. Yet he is failing to see how this would affect Taani's life, who is Anurag's wife. Yes, they are kids, but it doesn't change the fact that they have been joined in a sacred bond.
It took only a moment for Taani to change from Shekhar's daughter to 'yeh ladki'- 'that girl'. Was not this the girl who he had helped raise? Was this girl not his daughter too? Had he not seen her every facet as she was growing up- then how could it be so easy for him to suddenly believe that she has no values? Only because now his son was being affected? Ananya's, his daughter's, word meant so much to him that he did not even feel the need to talk to Taani first. His trust shattered within moments.
On the other hand, let's take a look at Bimal. For him there was no such thing as 'blood' or 'water'. Both he and Laboni put Ananya's happiness before Taani's. They both had decided to tell Shekhar the truth about Ritesh knowing that it may affect Taani's life. Even after being humiliated by Ananya, Bimal thought of her happiness first, even when taking his last breaths.
If we think in terms of reality, yes blood is thicker than water, scientifically it is 😆-for Shekhar it certainly is. For him all that mattered was his reputation and 'his' family. Yes he worked hard for it, which is why he is so adamant to let any harm come to it.
