In a new ad campaign for petaDishoom, they dress up as their favourite
four-legged companions: dogs. The fabulous four always make sure that
the dogs around their set get plenty of tender loving care (and food and
veterinary treatment too), and, of course, they are totally opposed to
cruelty to animals. Download the image as your wallpaper.
Go on – join Remix in adding colour to dogs' lives. We're here to tell you
how:
No teasing. Colour a dog's life – not the dog! When you're out playing
Holi, make sure people do not tease dogs with water or colour. If you see
people who are teasing dogs, stop them immediately.
Give friendship and love. If you have dogs at home, remember that they
require a lifetime of love, patience and understanding. Take them for long
walks and be sure to play with them.
Keep cool in the summertime. Wow, it's hot out there! With summer
approaching, leave a bowl of water out for the dogs in your area so that
they don't get dehydrated in the blazing sun.
Help provide medical attention. If you see an injured stray dog,
immediately call the local veterinarian, SPCA or animal welfare society and
ask for help. Keep the dog safe until help arrives.
Check for tags. If you see a dog who looks lost, take a minute of your
time and check the dog for tags or ask the people around if they know
where the dog lives. Don't leave the dog abandoned. Call a local animal
welfare society if you need help.
Adopt from an animal shelter. There are so many dogs in shelters
throughout the country who need a home and family right now, so why
not give a chance to them?
Volunteer at an animal shelter. Volunteer to walk dogs at your local
shelter, but be sure to do so in a safe, enclosed area or on a leash so
that they don't get hurt. The dogs in shelters need all the companionship
they can get.
Ask neighbours to unchain their dogs. Many dogs spend their entire lives
in "solitary confinement", trapped at the end of a chain or in a small pen,
where they suffer through monsoons, suffocating heat or bitter cold. Go
speak to their guardians about how their dogs need love and care, not
confinement and loneliness.
It's cuter to spay and neuter. Work with a local animal welfare society or
veterinarian to help educate people about spaying and neutering services
to keep the number of stray dogs and cats down. Make sure that the
clinic or office is professional and clean and that the animals are returned
back to where they were found in healthy condition after they are
sterilised. The less strays there are, the less trouble meanies cause them
and the less accidents or injuries they suffer – and the more food and
space each of them have.
Report abuse and neglect. If you see an animal treated badly, speak up!
If you don't, who will? Report abuse to the police and to your local animal
welfare society or SPCA.
And last but not least …
Tell others how they can help dogs. Help spread the word by sending
