Save the Mother or the Child

Swara has just found out that she is pregnant which means she is somewhere about 6-7 weeks along in her pregnancy. At this time, her baby is probably around the size of a peanut. But, let's say that even if Swara is almost three months pregnant, her baby is no bigger than a plum. If the baby was to be born at this moment, is doesn't have a chance of surviving (majority of the miscarriages happen during this time). So I am left wondering where the question to save either the baby or the mother would even come from? There is practically zero chance of baby suriving at such an early stage in the pregnancy...heck babies born in the sixth month of pregnancy struggle to survive (granted some do survive).
