What exactly do you mean by contemprory here? The fact of the matter is large part of India comprises of lower middle class to middle class people and even now lotsa ppl live in rural parts and they have their own lifestyles.

Dabangg is on a UP based corruptpolice inspector and there are LOADS of ppl like thatin India!

Even this is contemprory. Check out the India besides Mumbai ,Delhi and other metropolitan cities .Contemprory doesn't mean NRI shown in London, NYC ... etc or youngadults in Mumbai/Delhi.

😆 😆 You're making the wrong assumptions here. Ofcourse I know there is a lot more to India than Mumbai, Delhi, and KJO's NRI movies. I liked matrubhoomi from the recent lot it was based on atrocities towards females in backwoods like Bihar, so it was totally based on rural Indian life, it still looked pretty contemporary to me. Dabang for some reason looks very outdated thus I felt maybe they made it this way on purpose. Kinda like how Tarantino and Rodriguez did the Grindhouse collaboration to pay homage to the grindhouse theatres. I felt this was like a satire of the 80s bollywood and if not that then maybe made to pay a tribute to or mock the single screen theatre audience.

Also I noticed on the poster, the title Dabang is written in a way reminiscent of movie posters back in the day. Look I'm not trying to put Sallu miya down, I was just speculating. I don't understand why they made this. Maybe if the director talks about it, I'll get it.

^^^xetaxeta, IMO there is not much of a difference. I saw Wanted in a Multiplex and the crowd reaction was crazy , they were screaming and completely enjoying the film and some people even got outside their seats.

I believe there isn't much a difference in audience. A good entertaining film will be enjoyed by all people irrespective of their caste, creed or socio-economic status. At the end of the day everyone is human with same feelings of joy & enjoyment.
