Last year, Season 3 of Bigg Boss was watched by 90 million viewers over a period of 3 months. This season the real unscripted drama has more to offer than cat fights, real life romance and nervous breakdowns. The 14 strangers locked in the Bigg Boss house will have to face another obstacle besides 35 cameras following their every move 24x7. After months of speculation, Colors has chosen Salman Khan to be this season's host. Housemates, who used to eagerly wait their interaction with their friendly host, will now dread each session. Khan is going to be his spontaneous best, brutally honest and blunt with the inmates of the Bigg Boss house. In the earlier seasons of Bigg Boss, the host acted as the housemates' friend, philosopher and guide, but now all the emotional support will be replaced by sarcastic humour and ridicule. His scandalizing comments and larger than life persona is sure to create a buzz.

Why did you choose to host Bigg Boss season 4?
This show has seen some great hosts like Arshad Warsi, Shilpa Shetty and Amitabh Bachchan. From all the reality television shows I have seen, Bigg Boss has always confused me the most. It is amazing to see how people react under unique circumstances and to what level they can go to win the show. I feel giving advice to someone else is the easiest job, and that's all I need to do in the show.

How do you plan to be sarcastic and honest host?
I am a very straight forward person and I will not take double standards and politics lightly. I can't mask my feelings and those who play dirty will get a piece of my mind.

The audience loved you in Dus Ka Dum. What is your secret mantra to connect to the common man?
I am a common man. It takes the admiration of millions of common people to create one celebrity. I have a lot of respect for my audience. I don't care about this celebrity image. I connect to my audience because I don't differentiate. I had the same amount of fun with regular contestants and celebrities, who took part in Dus Ka Dum. One day you're a star and next day you are nothing. I would rather be a common man and stay grounded.

Do you think small screen has a lot of opportunities for Bollywood stars like you?
The small screen allows me to be on air for a longer period of time. The audience does not need to shell out 300 bucks to see my face for 3 hours. Prime time television is a terrific medium to connect to masses. I feel the need to make complete use on my abilities till the time I can perform well. My job is to entertain, and I just need a medium.

Tell us more about your honest, humorous witty avatar?
I have realised there is no point saying sugar coated things. I believe in myself and speak the truth; the audience accepts me with all my shortcomings. Nowadays, every time I open my mouth to talk, the press starts laughing. I don't know why they think I am funny?

Will we see you more often on the small screen?
After Dabangg my focus is Bigg Boss. I would love to do another season of Dus Ka Dum or any other reality show. I am looking forward to doing more television shows. My onscreen popularity works well for television shows.

Would you like to be an inmate locked in the Bigg Boss house? If yes, who would you like to take along?
I think I would happily survive in the Bigg Boss house. I would love to take Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) with me. We will have a great time inside.

Who is the Bigg Boss of your life?
My Dad is the Bigg Boss of my life; he controls my actions and reactions.
