Sunidhi's Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas

Is it just me or did you feel the same?
She was quite bad in her singing of the song (Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas). I thot her voice was shaking considerably and her high notes had a shrill. This is quite surprising since she is no ordinary singer, a child prodigy and a professional singer for 10 odd years. I was thinking the 4 participants should have been asked to judge sunidhi's performance. She would have got a hearful, including her favorite, Feeling bahut kam hai!!! It was quite flat!
I always felt she is not versatile enough, really good at singing those western style high pitch songs. I am personally not a fan as they end up feeling like a shouting or screaming match, rather than singing quite a few times (fine balance there). This performance y'day has not helped me change my opinion.

Yes, it was a less than ordinary rendition from Sunidhi. She completely missed the melody and emotions of the original. However, I won't write Sunidhi off for it. Such songs are not her forte and some singers are just not cut for impromptu performances.

Feel ki kami thee. :P

I agree that was not Sunidhi's brightest moment. But to give her some credit, perhaps she was nervous and did not see this coming. And we're quite aware that this isn't exactly her forte, so we'll give it to her there. One bad performance shouldn't take a singer's credibility away, and Sunidhi Chauhan is a terrific singer!

Well, I didn't write her off. She is good at those Crazy kiye re type stuff. Just that I never heard her sing more melodious, gentle stuff before. So always doubted her verstality. This rendition of pal pal didn't help her cause at all.

Also, that puts in perspective Sree's singing of the song requested by Hemaji (or the telugu version of Sathiya song he sang for Katrina). If it were indeed impromptu (this show is so much scripted) then it shows what he is capable of. Afterall if a talented and proffessional singer like sunidhi can come out with such crap, then it shows he is quite a special talent indeed (as Anuji continuously keeps reminding us).

All these reality shows are scripted ..... that's why I'm not getting involved in any such now a days so that I end up supporting one participant and he/ she would be eliminated wrongly and then would get a bad feel ....
Comming to Sunidhi ... she is indeed a terrific singer, but everyone can have a bad day or one bad performance anyways ... don't forget her "Dil Mein Jagi", "Kaisi Paheli Zindagai" or even "Shut up and bounce" or her latest "Bin Tere" .... both Sunidhi and Shreya are asset of music industry and not to forget ... Lataji and Ashaji praises Sunidhi left and right (via twitter msg's) .... so if Lataji praises anyone, that' s more than enough :D

Sunidhi has a slightly husky voice, not really suited for high notes. One can see the difference in her version of 'Yeh mera Dil' in the new Don and Asha Bhosle's original version in the old Don.

Everyone should sing within their limitations and not bite off more than what one can chew. The way she sang the new 'Yeh mera dil' was ok. She didn't try for a high pitch like Asha and fail. The way she sang it - it was good.

Sunidhi gets to sing songs which are suited to her voice and she does them well...like Beedi or Lucky boy etc.
But her voice is not suited to some songs which Shreya Ghoshal has sung - Yeh Ishq Hai in Jab we met for instance. The reverse is also true...if Shreya sings 'Beedi' it will be a disaster.
Leave the one bad day...Sunidhi is a good singer. 😊

I wish Sunidhi had selected some other song which cud suit her voice better. One bad performance isnt a big deal, she is still a great singer.

It's not just one day. She didn't sound very good even when she sang Aye Dil-E Nadan.

I opened a thread earlier regarding this but everyone ignored it at that time. I posted this at that time:

Please don't attack me for this. This is something I realized after this watching this seasons Indian Idol and I would like to know your opinions.

I used to be a big fan of Sunidhi both when she first came into limelight( I followed her during Meri Awaaz Suno days) and through most of the time. The fandom was especially high due to songs like Crazy Kiya and Beedi Jalaile. Now, I don't live in India and don't generally follow live singing of these singers much.I haven't heard her sing live at all except for the time she came on Indian Idol once.

Now coming to the main point: I heard Sunidhi only in great detail during II when she was asked to sing various songs. First, of all I felt that she sings in a breathy manner ( I don't know how exactly to describe it-something like she ends each line with a audible breath to give it a western tinge). This is something I find it very annoying and not at all pleasant to hear.

Secondly, she has sung several old songs during the auditions and also when Asha Bhosle came onto the stage. To my ears, she didn't sound impressive at all when she sang these songs. I understand it is not her comfort zone but I expected a lot better from her.

Overall, my awe for Sunidhi has considerably lessened once I heard her singing on this show. However, this did not happen with the other singers in earlier seasons( Sonu, Udit, and Kailash Kher)

So I would like you all to give your opinions. Also, if you have any songs where she has sung old songs in any stage performance and you like them could you please post them here.
