I'll start with Yuvraj's family first - I have yet to see such a hypocritical family in my life! I have NO problem with their attempts at letting Yuvraj have a normal life, in fact I'd even advocate his choice to get married should he and the girl agree to it. But to say that they want their son to have a normal life, and then treat him like Godzilla's next of kin is beyond ridiculous to me! If they wanted to pretend that Yuvraj was normal and deserved a normal life, then they should hate treated him and his marriage so. Finding a blind girl and tricking her into marrying their son, hoping that she'd be so blinded by the money and status that she wouldn't realize the "missing" aspect of her marriage sooner or later is ABSURD! I mean the mother went on and on about how she just wanted a normal life for her son and she was doing what she felt was right for him - but in all that she forgot that treating his condition like something unworthy to be voices is absolutely counter productive to his self esteem! I am sorry to say, but I definitely side with Dr. Nigam here. Her anger was rooted in the fact that she trusted them when they said that they'd do everything to let him live a normal life and do nothing that would risk outing his secret. She placed her career on the line for this - should someone find out that she faked the birth certificate for Yuvraj, she's lose her practice and her license! Yet they went ahead and got him married?! Do they really think Sandhya and everyone else won't find out because of this?! Like really? And is it really fair putting her career on the line like that without even TELLING her, let alone consulting her?! Just unfair, absolutely unfair and absolutely hypocritical!
Coming to Yuvraj, the poor guy's been turned into such a taboo that I don't blame him for having a nervous break down. His family has ruined his self esteem - if he wasn't troubled as it is, they had to put him under the ridiculous pressure of keeping a secret from his wife and exposing him to the high risk of his secret getting out into the public. He has a PHYSICAL defect, which means sooner or later it will come out and his wife will find out (He's an eunuch and not just impotent) - I'm just at a lost of words for how his family handled this. I mean honestly, no matter what way I look at it I always come down to WHAT in the HELL was his family thinking! I even caught him saying that he wanted to tell Dr. Nigam in the middle of his rant - he wanted to come clean, he didn't want to keep secrets. He just wanted to be normal and handle this maturely, yet what does the family do for him? They tell him it's better to lie? And keep a secret? Knowing how well a secret gnaws on your soul?! I mean they expect a girl to appreciate Yuvraj for who he is and judge him for his character and not some random defect, yet they treat his defect as something that governs his entire existence! Pankaj Chacha says that a girl could love Yuvraj for who he is yet he goes ahead and nullifies his own claim by hiding Yuvraj's truth from Sandhya? Seriously?! How do they even begin to explain this? Or justify this?!
And finally to Sandhya... *sigh* What should I even say about her? She's the absolutely victim in this - even more than Yuvraj. Yuvraj knew he didn't have a choice in the card dealt to him by his life - but Sandhya was never GIVEN the choice she was entitled to! She is blind and her handicap was used to trick her unfairly. Even though she hasn't been tricked because of it, they intended it to be the "help" they needed to trick her and that is just unfair! She should have been told, she should have been given the choice to decide for herself. Knowing her, she's probably have said yes and appreciated Yuvraj for who he is. But getting her married and now expecting her to stick around even when she finds out is so unfair. Most of us here will think less of her for "choosing" not to stay with Yuvraj - even judge her as superficial - but I really think she should get the choice to walk way right now! She is blind and Yuvraj knows about her handicap. She put it all out and then got accepted in spite of it (even though it was for ulterior motives) but she doesn't know about Yuvraj's handicap and to me that's an unfair deal. To expect her to understand Yuvraj's handicap just because she's a handicap is not acceptable - especially after the lies that his family fed her. If they'd told her first off I could expect her to understanding of his handicap but now, it's a matter of being tricked and being kept in the proverbial dark.
*takes deep breath*
Sorry about the rant, but I am totally flabbergasted by the episode today! It just threw my head for a spin. I officially dislike Yuvraj's family! If there was ever a situation that has a blurred line between right and wrong, this is it! But only as far as Yuvraj and Sandhya are concerned. For the Jagirdar family, I have no doubt in finding them wrong in how they handled this situation!
