Sistas with soul

She sashayed into the room with a chirpy "Hello!" to an audience awestruck by her effortless sense of style. Her younger sister followed, and commented on the quiet, "It's real intense in here!" before the crowd burst out laughing. That's Sonam and Rhea Kapoor for you! If one was oozing feminity in her floral-print short dress, the other displayed an entrepreneurial demeanour with her no-fuss taupe dress.
A rendezvous with the Kapoor siblings when they came down to promote their latest home production — Aisha:
What was it like working together? Were there any debates over matters?
Rhea: Sonam and I are very different, yet we complement each other. If we find something that we're passionate about, we make a dream team. Of course, we had arguments — "I don't like what you're wearing. It's too short!" "That's too long!" But we made up every single time.
Sonam: At home, we're always arguing about who has taken whose razai, who has stolen whose cardigan and who gets the TV remote. (laughs)
Wasn't there an 'adventure' involving fire on the sets of Aisha?
Sonam: Yes. It was scary and horrible to watch our sets burning!
Rhea: The fire was caused when the wires came loose in one of the 'practical lights' and came into contact with flammable reflector sheets. But my amazing team of spotboys and assistant directors managed to put it out. And we were pampered by Muthuswamy (chef). What is in that 'gun powder'! What a mind-blowing combination it makes with rice and ghee.
How did you zero in on Abhay for the film?
Rhea: I saw Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and was like "That is Arjun!" Any actor who can pull off being cocky and wonderful at the same time, is amazing.
Doesn't Sonam have her first on-screen kissing scene with Abhay in Aisha?
Sonam: We tried to do it, but it didn't work out. It just looked wrong, so it's not part of the movie.
Rhea, does Sonam boss over you, being the older sibling?
Rhea: She bosses over me about some things. Like today, she made me get a pedicure. But I refused to get a manicure, so I hope no one photographs my fingers. (laughs)
Sonam: I never boss over anyone! And Rhea's always the boss of everyone!
Who do you have fun following on Twitter?
Rhea: I love style.com. I also think Salman Khan is very entertaining.
Sonam: Me too. I love him. I'm his biggest fan ever!
How do you bond?
Rhea: We watch films and TV shows. My latest obsession is Modern Family. But Sonam watches the most disgusting shows in the world. (To Sonam) What's the name of that show you watch?
Sonam: House
Rhea: That's not crap. The other one? Oh yeah, The Vampire Diaries.
Sonam: Hey, I love that show! And, we shop to bond! We also sit in bed and gossip. That's the best part.
