Dutta and Naku to me are about destiny in a strange way. How two different people--they really are different in so many ways--can understand each other in ways others can't. And this doesn't necessarily need to have an ooh-la-la romantic component. In this case, it does though.
At its core, everyday, it's a relationship that is forming, a romantic one at that. Naku understands Dutta, Dutta DOES NOT even know Naku, at least in my opinion. He grasps her courage, her honesty (well almost), but not much else. It was only with the car scene that he saw this side of her.
So I ask you: Are they soul-mates and why do you say so? Is it because they have found each other and are drawn to each other? Understand each other in ways no other person does? They help each other overcome their weaknesses, hurts whereas noone else can?
Naku and Dutta rarely talk. There is much beauty to them not having to, Naku grasping Dutta's character very well, but they DO NEED to TALK openly and honestly more as they commit to each other.
They exist it seems only in intense times, periods of confusion, pain, uncertainty. They need each other during those times. But what about in periods devoid of pain or drama? What would their relationship be like then?
I think their relationship has a long way to go, in their becoming a married couple. The verbal communication, the mutual understanding, the mutual attachment and commitment, just being in each other's company--these are all things that have to happen. It will be interesting to see.
So snip, cut away!
