Chapter 3:
A gruff voice brought her back to her senses when she realized that the stranger was no handsome guy but a ruffian… 'dekh k nahi chal sakti kya, park mein ghoom rahi ho kya?'
'Sorry uncle', muttered Pratigya!
The guy would have answered back but his phone rang, 'ha Angad Yadav bol rahe hain, ka hua be?'
He went off talking on his mobile and Pratigya thought aloud, 'dammit, why couldn't it be a handsome guy who would have held me like that?' what Pratigya didn't notice was that someone had just heard what she was saying. She didn't know that this someone would be playing a big role in this FF, oops sorry, playing a big role in her life! This someone was Krishna Thakur, who now was oblivious to his surroundings and was amused by this girl who was muttering why a handsome guy didn't break her fall… Krishna knew he was handsome; he saw the mirror everyday and didn't need anyone to tell him that! 😆
Pratigya was not a very beautiful girl and Krishna did notice that, but he saw that she was cute! He didn't know what attracted him but he felt the sudden urge to talk to her, to know about her. He had come to Inox, on the 2nd floor, to watch 'I hate Love Stories', but found himself following this girl instead! The ticket in his pocket went untouched and he didn't care missing the movie.
Pratigya hurried, this time careful not to bump into another 'uncle'. She spotted Samira and both friends settled at a table with burgers, coke and French fries.
P: chal, ab jaldi se bata ki kya baat hai?
S: well, I'm in love! (Samira loved coming straight to the point)
P: tujhe 'pyar' ho gaya hai? That's cool! Who's the lucky guy?
S: Maan. His name is Maan Singh Khurana!
P: now who's he? I've never heard about him! Where did you meet him, how does he look like, what does he do?
S: cool down, cool down. U r getting more excited than me! Hahaha
P: now c'mon, u know I don't like suspenses, jaldi se bata na
Meanwhile, Krishna had grabbed a table nearby and listened to the girls…
S: remember the Psychology classes I had taken, well he joined just yesterday and since he was way back in the course so I thought to help him out.
P: hmm… help him out ha? Good looking hai kya ;)
S: yar, it is an insult to call him good looking. He can give the Greek gods a run for their money! And well, his looks were partly responsible of why I offered to help… I don't know when our topic drifted from studies to our lives and families. We are going on a date in the evening, I called you here coz obviously I don't want my parents to know anything at this moment… and I can't keep any secrets from you!
Pratigya wistfully kept listening. She knew she had no chance to meet some Greek god who would fall in love with her! She always thought that being beautiful was the key to be loved, even dadi1 had once commented how Aarushi was so beautiful and that it was Pratigya whom she was worried for, coz all matrimonial ads requested for a beautiful girl! Aarushi had instantly replied back to dadi, saying that it won't be love if it was only for beauty and tht Pratigya was the best girl any guy could get! Pratigya was grateful to her sis but she knew that dadi had spoken the truth! She never had any boyfriends in her college, even when she was in 11th all her friends have had the experience of a proposal. Aarushi too had let in her secret to Pratigya where she was proposed by a fellow student but she had rejected him coz he didn't like Salman!! 😆
Samira was still describing about Maan when she realized that Pratigya was lost in her own thoughts! 'Hey, dreamy girl! A penny for ur thoughts'
'Huh! Oh sorry Sammy, I.. I was just…' Pratigya managed only this; she was ashamed that she was caught!
But Krishna also caught that suddenly the girl was lost in thoughts and there was sadness on her sweet little face and then she snapped back and the smile came back when Samira again started to talk about Maan and this time the girl listened intently… He wondered what it could be! He wanted to find out what bothered her…
Suddenly, Samira's cell phone rang. It was Maan, who wanted to meet her. Hence the meeting was cut short, they said their byes. Pratigya didn't own any vehicle and Samira was supposed to go the other way so Pratigya decided to take the local bus to get back home. Samira left and Pratigya thought to again go and have a glance at the black evening gown she had spotted. Gathering her courage and praying that she didn't meet anyone from her family, she went in the store. Once inside, she took the gown and went in the trial room. One glance in the mirror and Pratigya didn't recognize herself. The gown fit her well and she looked beautiful, for a change even Pratigya managed to admire herself. She was so happy that she forgot to change and came out wearing the dress.
Krishna, who had again followed her, was stunned! She looked gorgeous. He imagined how beautiful she would look if she had long hairs. He made a mental note to tell her to grow her hairs. He expected the girl to purchase the dress, but surprisingly the girl just ran back to the trial room, came out in her salwar suit, and returned the gown, commenting it was not that good!
'Maybe, it is costly and she couldn't afford it!', Krishna thought. He quickly bought the dress and decided to gift it to her when she had atleast shoulder length hair!
While Krishna waited for the gown to be packed, Pratigya had found a bus and she left for home. Krishna came running out of the mall and couldn't believe that he had lost her!
