Agreed. But that still does not answer the question - Why did they not choose a really ordinary looking girl to play the role? Dutta does not care for looks. And Nakku's is a true selfless love. The story would still have been the same. My only point is that this way the CVs have made sure that they will get viewer's attention and sympathy.Originally posted by: oddgalout
Someone as gorgeous as Dutta would ideally never even give a second look at a girl like Naku. That is the harsh reality of the world. And a girl as pretty as Naku would in most cases never hide her beauty from a guy like Dutta if she wanted him at any cost. Instead here the story is about going beyond superficial looks and also about selfless love and acceptance for one to their core. It is a two way thing. The setup of this story aims at showing two people who most people would never imagine to get together to unite and unite to the core. Dutta is oblivious to how much of a catch he is and he also doesn't see anything lacking in Naku unlike all the other characters in the show. Naku on the other hand realizes that Dutta see love as being much beyond skin deep - that he has accepted her and respects her as she is right now and makes sure she is treated well - he is blind to what the rest of the world seems to find fault in - her dark skin and her being his employee and hence inferior to him - he sees her as an equal. Coloring her dark makes the story unusual. What is unusual about a good looking guy like Dutta falling head over heels for a gorgeous Naku? In that case Naku's love for Dutta maybe still seen as selfless but it's quite easy to conclude that Dutta fell for her simply for her looks. Even if Dutta did love the pretty Naku as much this Dutta will love this Naku there would be a group of viewers that would automatically assume it was bound to happen for a good looking don like him to fall for a pretty gal like her.
