So the article came out and Amir Khan tops the filmfare powerlist. He is the top actor according to filmfare. And Kareena Kapoor is at #8, making her the top actress. Katrina Kaif at #10.
MUMBAI: In what has become a pattern of sorts, Aamir Khan, whose last three films Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini and 3-Idiots have earned around Rs 825 crore, has managed to retain his position at No 1 on the 2009 Filmfare Power List. His December 2009 release Rajkumar Hirani's 3-Idiots is the biggest hit in Bollywood history, having grossed over Rs 375 crore.
The actor beat his arch rival Shah Rukh Khan who has been at the No 2 slot for the third time running. However, the fact is that Shah Rukh virtually sat the year out and had nothing to show since Billu(2009) and a cameo in a dud called Dulha Mil Gaya(2009).
However, it can be clearly seen that a bad year now and then doesn't alter Shah Rukh's overall standing at the hustings. Even at his inactive best, he continues to give his rivals a tough fight.
Hirani, who scored a hat trick with his two Munnabhai films and 3 Idiots is definitely on top of his game. Considered the maker with the Midas touch, Hirani is considered Bollywood's most influential film-maker. It is hardly surprising then that he beat box-office pashas like Karan Johar as well as Yash & Aditya Chopra to make it to the No 3 position.
Music whiz A R Rahman, who brought India two Oscars, has catapulted to the No 4 slot from his previous high of No 8 in the 2008 Power List.
For Karan Johar, it was a status quo. He didn't direct a film in 2009; but his production house Dharma got accolades for the coming-of-age Wake Up Sid, a film that gave Bollywood it's latest superstar Ranbir Kapoor.
Yash Raj Films slipped to No 6 from their previous position of No 3 in 2008. But, of course, even today they are considered a banner that can rope in any top-notch Bollywood talent. Their New York(2009) was one of the first hits of last year.

The banner that gave us Taare Zameen Par and Jaane tu...ya jaane Na edged out the individual contribution of actor Akshay Kumar who was at No 7 on the list in 2008 but finds himself nowhere on this power list.
Kareena Kapoor, Bollywood's reigning diva made it to the No 8 slot. However, she has more reason to worry than celebrate. In 2008, she was the solo woman at No 10. This year, her closest rival Katrina Kaif is just two numbers behind her.
Hrithik Roshan stayed steady at the No 9 slot, though he had little to show except for a cameo in the flop film Luck By Chance. The Bachchans missed this coveted list a second time over.
