Gulshan Kumar happened to hear this and he was asked to sing one more number for him. Please understand it is all about commercial success.
I do not agree about the regionalism if that was the issue then only Bengal or South would have controlled the monopoly of music the fact is they don't. If you all just take a serious look at the voting ratio between Debu and Vinit it is well proven that Music has no boundary in INDIA that was proven again one more time by Music lover. Yes Debu got from his region and Vinit also got from his but if you take the overall vote it did came from all over the India to me that does not justify Regional voting this regional issue was preemptive shot to discourage singers let say if Vinit was the winner what would be the option and the opinion then. I did pointed out the commercial aspect on this post where you will see that it is all about who you know and what is your background.
Usha Khanna introduced him to sing for the dummy of Aaja Meri Jaan which was Kishan Kumar's film. Gulshan Kumar happened to hear that song. On the October 16, 1992 he sang his very first song O Aasmaanwale Zameen Par Utar Ke Dekh. When Gulshan Kumar heard his voice. He was astounded that he was only 18 years Old, and took him on his belt and his career as a singer started.
In October 1994 he was invited for a playback singer's Antakshari on Zee TV. On this show Purnima and he defeated all the other singers. That's when Gajendra Singh noticed him and proposed that I do close up Antakshari. He wasn't too keen. So he thought of this new concept of Sargam which eventually became TVS Sa re ga ma. The First episode was aired on May 1, 1995. Initially people found it too slow but it grew to become one of the biggest money making shows on Indian television.
Zee TV offered him the job of anchoring SaReGaMa, a program that went on to become a benchmark for musical programs ever after. Sonu got to interact with the big names in music, both commercial and classical. Wanted was a break in the arena of playback singing. It is all about commercial success.
Thanks for posting a good topics hope we all will get some good out of this issue of Regional voting.
