'Twilight: Eclipse' sets box office record for midnight screenings
In its opening midnight showing on Wednesday, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has smashed box office records, raking in more than $30 million from 4,000 domestic theaters, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In comparison, last year Twilight Saga: New Moon's midnight showings set a then record of $26.3 million and went on to gross a record $72.7 million its first day at the box office.
Eclipse is expected to haul in more than $150 million through this holiday weekend, playing in an unprecedented 4,410 theaters.
On The Red Carpet was at the premiere last week and snagged interviews with some of the film's biggest stars. Twilight: Eclipse opened on June 30.
