Early morning…Mayank comes out wearing light colored formal pants with a white shirt. A tie loosely draped around his neck. He walks, eyes there trying to fix it; and in that confusion dashes Nupur. Nupur who looked like a fresh rose petal in the morning with tight fitted black Lycra pants and a bright yellow kurti and a black stole around her neck. Her hair was left loose in brown and gold layers.
Nupur- 'Ouch Mayank..dekh ke nahin chal sakte? Aankhen hai ya button?' She fumed.
Mayank- 'Nupur. Relax. Acha suno ye tie band do..main office ke liye late ho raha hun.'
Nupur was in front of the mirror applying kajal. 'For your kind information main bhi office jaati hun theeke. Aur main bhi late ho rahe hun. Hmph.' She strolled towards the shoe stand, took out her favourite black heels and wore them.
Mayank- 'Nupur tum ab tak mujhse kal raat ki baat per gussa ho? Chodo na..raat gayi baat gayi..chalo ab ye tie band do na..please.'
Nupur gave him an evil stare. She walked towards him and pulled him closer by pulling the tie. Angrily she started to fix it.
Mayank- 'Nupur tumhe pata hai ke aaj tum kitni jyada khubsurat lag rahe ho??' He said putting his arms around her. Nupur pulled the tie further making Mayank gasp. 'Arre itna bhi kya gussa jaaneman..? ' He came further to kiss her when she moved away.
Nupur- 'Mujhe office ke liye late ho raha hai..bye.' She walked down the stairs. 'Good morning mom.' She greeted Shilpa aunty with a smile.
Shilpa- 'Good morning beta..chalo baitho aur break-fast karlo jaldi se.'
Nupur- 'Ma please aaj main bahut late ho gaye hun..sorry!!' She gave her a quick hug and rushed towards the door.
Shilpa- 'Arre beta lunch to le jao.' Nupur smiled took it and went away.
Mayank came down then. 'Hi ma..Nupur kahan hai??'
Shilpa- 'Woh to chali gaye.' She said setting the table.
Mayank- 'Chali gaye?' He muttered to himself. 'Ma ye Nupur bhi na..choti baton se gussa ho jaate hain. Kab samjhunga main usse.' He said sadly.
Shilpa- 'Arre Mayu aisa kuch bhi nahin hai..tum ye sab chodo aur office niklo..aur mujhe Kamini aunty ke ghar drop kar do..Aaj hum log shopping jaa rahe hain. Tumhe kuch chaiye?'
Mayank- 'Nahin ma kuch nahin..Chale??'
Mayank and Nupur had got married 2 weeks before..and Mayank still could not make time for a honey-moon so Nupur was very angry. At dinner the same day.
Shilpa- 'Mayank Nupur main to tumhe batana hi bhul gaye..mere behen aur unke bacche aa rahe hai kuch dino ke liye..tumhe congratulations kehne..Shaadi woh attend nahin kar paye na isliye..'
Mayank- 'Congratulations kehne ke liye kuch din rukne ki kya zaroorat hai? Bolke chale jaye..' Mayank said in a dull tone.
His mother slapped him on the shoulder. 'Aise nahin kehte Mayu.'
Nupur- 'Rehne di jiye na ma..Mayank ye sab baatien ye kaise samjhega? Ek number ka sadu akdu jo tehra. Family ko time dena isse aata hi kahan hai?' She said pointing to the honey-moon topic.
Mayank- 'Ma tum Nupur se kehdo..ke family ko time dena mujhe achi tarah se aata hai..aur isse mujhe samjhane ki koi zaroorat nahin hai.' He said in a sarcastic tone.
Nupur- 'Oh really..woh to mujhe bahut ache se dikh raha hai..hmph! Biwi ko to time dete nahin ho..aur baat karte ho FAMILY ki..ha!'
Mayank- 'Dekho Nupur tum ab bas….'
Shilpa- 'Dono chup ho jao..sharam nahin aate Mayank tumhare abhi shaadi huye hai aur tum aise lad rahe ho??' Nupur smirked.
Mayank- 'Ma aap to ab sara blame mujhpe hi daalenge na..' He said complaining.
Shilpa- ' Nupur beta sorry par isme tum bhi galat ho..' Nupur looked down. Mayank smiled this time. 'Acha ab ye sab chodo..Main soch rahe thi ke who log ab aa hi rahe hai to hum kyun na weekend pe kuch ache se resort chalen?? Bada mazza aayega na?'
Nupur- 'Ma..aap chod hi dijiye..Mayank to itna busy hai..woh bechara kaise time nikalega?' She said sarcastically. 'Aap chinta mat kijiye..saare arrangements main kar dunge!' She said happily.
Mayank- 'Iske koi zaroorat nahin hai..woh mere family hai..main sab sambhal lunga..'
Nupur- 'Ab shayad who mere bhi family hai…to main bhi..'
Shilpa- 'Acha tum dono arrange kar dena? Khush?'
Mayank- 'Ma mujhe bahut neend aa rahe hai..good night.' He got up and departed to his room.
Nupur was still eating.
Shilpa- She smiled. 'Nupur beta chodo na ye sab ladaiye..ab tum dono ki shaadi ho gaye hai. Adjustments to har shaadi main chaiye hai na..varna koi bhi shaadi successful nahin hote. Aur tum Mayank ko to jaante ho.'
Nupur- 'Ma..aap to aise hi pareshan ho gaye. By god main to Mayank ke saath mazak kar rahi hun..' She smiled.
Shilpa- 'Nupur tum bhi na..ab utho aur apne kamre main jao. Aur sab ladaiye theek kar do.'
Nupur- 'Ma….nahin. Please thodi der aur. Mujhe Mayank ko chedne main bada mazza aata hai.' She said excitedly.
Shilpa- She laughed 'Acha baba theek hai. Main apne kamre main jaa rahi hun. Good night.'
Nupur wished back good night too. After clearing the table , she also went to her room. Mayank was watching TV..a football match. She glared at him and went to change. She came out after 5 mins..hair in a pony-tail and in a comfortable night dress.
Nupur- 'Mayank mujhe remote do..TV dekhne hai..tum itni der se dekh rahe ho na?'
Mayank- 'Hello..mujhe room main aa kar dus min bhi nahin huya hai. Aur abhi bahut important match chal raha..please don't disturb.' He said not even looking at her.
Nupur got really angry. She took a pillow and blanket and threw it on the floor.
Mayank- 'Nupur isme itna gussa, Ke tum neeche sone ja rahe ho?'
Nupur- 'Mere pyaare pati dev..main nahin aap neeche so rahe hai.'
Mayank- Shocked. 'What?? Kyun??'
Nupur- 'Mujhe neend aa rahi hai..please ab tum jao aur mujhe jyada pareshan mat karo.'
Mayank- 'De…kho Nupur tum ye theek nahin kar rahe ho.' He stammered.
Nupur- 'Good night Mayank.' She said pushing him from the bed and sleeping.
Mayank- 'Main…main tumhe..main ma se jake complain karunga!'
Nupur yawned. 'Tum aur kar bhi kya sakte ho?'
Mayank- 'This is not FAIR!'
Nupur- 'Enjoy your match by the way….' She switched off the lamp by her side..and she drifted off to sleep.
Next day lots of people turned up. Mayank indeed had a large family which Nupur didn't know about. His mothers two sisters and their children visited them. None of the cousins were like Mayank. They were nice and sweet and almost their age. The whole day the girls went shopping with Nupur and the guys stayed in to play video-games. They were supposed to leave the next day for the resort.
The day passed smoothly, except the night. There was a lot of confusion of who would sleep where. There were three rooms in the house..out of which two were completely full. The only room left was Mayank and Nupur's. And there were two kids who were not able to fit in anywhere. Aastha and Amar were two teenagers studying in school. Both were in their 11th std. They were cousins too.
Aastha- 'Mom its no problem..Hum Mayank bhaiya or bhabhi ke room main so jayenge.'
Amar- ' Okay that's cool with me too. Its just one night.
Nupur- Embarrassed. 'Acha? Haan waise bhi koi aur jagah nahin hai..haina Mayank?'
Mayank- 'Haan..no problem..Aastha aur Amar hamare room main so jayenge..its no problem maasi (mother's sister).' Mayank said smiling.
Nupur- 'Mere pyaare pati-dev jyada khush hone ki zaroorat nahin hai. Aaj bhi main tumhe neeche sulaunge.' She whispered.
Mayank- 'Really? Lets see.' He challenged.
Aastha and Amar got all their baggage in Mayur's room. Two mattresses were put down.
They were deciding places.
Nupur- 'Main aur Aastha upar so jaate hai, Tum dono neeche? Theek hai na?'
Amar- 'Bhab's…just chill alright! You guys can sleep on top. Me n Aastha down. Waise bhi we have loads to catch up..haina Aastha?'
Aastha- 'Haan bhabhi..dont feel shy..hum hi to hain. So relax.' She winked to Nupur.
Mayank- 'Hayee kitne pyaare cousins hai na mere Nupur? So understanding. God bless you both.' Mayank smirked.
Meanwhile Nupur was getting very angry. 'Okay good night.'
After an hour. Lights off.
Mayank- 'Wow..feels so nice to be back on MY bed. Heaven.' He muttered happily getting comfortable and adjusting on the pillow. He moved closer to Nupur and put an arm around her waist with his head resting on her shoulder. 'Good night Nupur.'
Nupur- Shocked. 'Mayank..shayad tum bhul gaye ho ke hamara jhagda abhi tak khatam nahin huya hai. Aur yahan bacche bhi hai room main..to tum thoda dur raho mujhse. By god..fevicol ki tarah chipak rahe ho.'
Mayank- 'Nupur tum bhi na..tumhe ye bacche lagte hai? Humse jyada knowledge hain in me. Tumhe sab sikha sakte hain.' He laughed.
Nupur- 'Whatever. Good night.' She took his arm away.
Later in the night-
Aastha- 'Bhabhi…bhabhi utho na..' She muttered quietly waking her up.
Nupur- 'Kya hai Aastha? Itni raat ko tum kyun…..?' Nupur yawned.
Aastha- 'Woh main neeche comfortable nahin feel kar rahi. Mere neck main pain hai. Kya me upar so jaun?'
Nupur- 'Acha?' Nupur asked sleepily. 'Ruko main Mayank ko neeche bhejte hun..Mayank…utho..' Waking him up.
Aastha- 'Arre bhab's..uski koi zaroorat nahin hai. Hum teeno fit aa jayenge. Kyun bhaiya ko utha rahe ho?'
Nupur- 'Acha theeke..so jao.' Nupur moved closer to Mayank and made place for Aastha.
After some more time.
Amar- 'Aastha ki bachi uth..mujhe neeche sula kar..khud upar chali gaye..?? Not fair. Mujhe bhi upar sona hai.' He said waking her up.
Aastha- 'Oye mere neck pain ho rahi hai..so ja na chup-chap. Don't irritate.'
Amar- 'Zyada excuses na bana..samjhi?' Waking up Mayank. 'Bhaiya thoda side do mujhe upar sona hai. '
Mayank sleepily moved making space for Amar. Mayank-Nupur came so close, their heads dashed.
Nupur- 'Ouch kya kar rahe ho Mayank?' She muttered sleepily.
Mayank didn't reply.
After some time. Waking up Nupur.
Mayank- 'Nupur..utho..' Pushing her.
Nupur- 'Huh?'
Mayank- 'Mujhe itna suffocation kyun ho raha hai?' He asked sleepily.
They both properly got up to see that Aastha and Amar had gobbled up all the place and Mayank and Nupur were sandwiched between them.
Nupur – 'By god..in dono ne to saare jagah leli..ab hum kya karenge?' Slapping her forehead.
Mayank- 'Main neeche sone jaa raha hun. Good night.' He picked up his blanket and went down.
Nupur- 'Main bhi..' She sighed.
As they settled themselves down..
Nupur- 'Mayank please upar se mere blanket dedo..yahan AC ki hawa jyada hai..'
Mayank sighed and got up to see...Aastha had taken that too.
Mayank- Yawning. 'Forget it Nupur.' He pulled her close and shared the blanket with her.
Nupur- 'Mayank tum kya kar rahe ho? Koi andar aa gaya to kya sochenge?' She said moving away.
Mayank- 'Jo chaho who karo. Good night.' He said pulling the blanket over him.
Nupur sighed and got in the same bed-sheet cuddling with her husband.
Mayank- 'Aa gaye na line pe.' He smirked in sleep.
Nupur- 'Dekho tum phirse mat chalu ho jao..' She replied sleepily.
Mayank- 'Good night. ' He said pulling her closer.
Nupur was already fast asleep.
