sinhaji...nice topic...

my 2 cents.. actually having been born and brought up in hong kong i grew up listening to the old songs and watching hindi movies including b/w ones. even then i remember appreciating songs and humming these to myself infact at a very young age of 14 i started appreciating ghazals as well.

of course a couple of years later... as teenagers we were partying to indian remixes at discos which still are very popular here in hong kong...at that point of time I use to enjoy these because they were altered in such a manner which would allow you to dance to the tunes...

however now when I think about it and actually watch some of the videos on the TV my first impression is what mess they have made out of the song and the second omg the gals are semi nude in these videos 😆 ...comes across as quite a shock ...

the reason for my reaction now is because of the fact that i was priviledged at a young age to have come across these songs when my parents use to hear them ... and this is what i wld be doing with my kids so that they have an opportunity as well to listen to the originals one even before they come across the remixes ...this way they will learn to appreciate them...

i think it comes down to the current trend and the generation you are in ...
