umeedein

😆 man, it sooo looks weird that i'm using a hindi word as a topic title! me! who used to make rickshaw drivers in bombay die of laughter when i tried giving directions in hindi. 😆

so. umeedein means wishes or desires, no?

just got back home from a coffeeshop session with the girls, and a heavy-duty discussion on love stories.

and i discovered something that i just had to share with you.

i have no more umeedein when it comes to love stories.
i have achieved love-story nirvana with prem and heer. 😲😆

the gang were talking about great lovers, and how the guy could do this, or that, to become a better lover. (ya, it was always the guy who needed to improve in being lovers, in our opinion, 'cause girls are perfect anyway! 😆 or they were like hero in ''much ado...'' or kt in ksbkbt who were both rather cow-like, and therefore pointless. 😆) and i couldn't disagree. the only guy who came closest to perfect was signor benedick in ''much ado...'' despite having been such a stubborn ass about loving beatrice in the beginning.

and i thought: even in our show, it was the same. except prem had a heer who matched and stood as love when prem was not upto it. and heer had a prem who did the same for her.

and it stirred something in the murky depts that is my mind. i realised that i have finally seen a love story where i truly believe that it is no point thinking of prem and heer as separate. love remains because in prem and heer, it is always there.

every other pair either had to

• reach there (like viola and the duke, or raj and simran) -- so there was a time before when they didn't love each other, or
• went through serious amounts of trouble where they honestly loved others after having discovered each other -- so there was a time when they gave up on each other. (ya, i'm a firm believer in two-hearts beating as one. not three or three.five or whatever these love stories try to tell us. 😆)

prem and heer are the only ones that i can think of who started, continued and will-never-end as lovers. (well, there is catherine and heathcliffe. but the way they behaved with other people was seriously abominable. i refuse to consider them as candidates in my love-stories-about-people, anymore. they seriously come closest to what people call devils. )

and because of this? i can watch/read/listen to love stories and love songs. and it won't matter if the guy gets the girl, or the girl wins the guy in any of them anymore.

because even if /when they don't, i'll just nod wisely and say: ''ah. but prem and heer, they were always one.''

and i will be satisfied no matter what is happening on the screen/page/radio-channel in front of me.


see?? i have no more umeedein from love stories!

It just does not matter to me how other love stories end up now. I have prem heer.

Even harshad's new show, I don't care how cute of a love story it is, how bad it is, or how heart-warming it will be...i don't care if they end up together or not. It's a hard feelingto explain like..

premheer were the epitome of it all...rest is just entertainment! bring in any twist...lol..

Novels/plays/serials will continue to be made, some things i will dislike and other i will love...but i will never ever feel that closeness or desire to keep the characters intact or feel an attachment...

them two were magical werent they. what am i saying. LOL
