Does Love Need A Reason? {Abhi-Niki} (NOTE pg 5)

Part 1

Nikki gasped as she saw the blood oozing out from her stomach. In one hand she held the knife
, and with the other she clutched her paining stomach. In front of her, Jiah was crying out while also
clutching her stomach, however, Jiah had not gotten wounded as deeply as Nikki.

Abhi heard the screams and rushed to Jiah, not realizing Nikki was there until Jiah hurriedly told him that Nikki had stabbed her. Abhi looked up and looked in disbelief at Nikki, not wanting to believe it. Yet, he had no choice, seeing the knife in her hand. He picked Jiah up and and ran inside the hospital, not heeding Nikki's calls. He did not seem to have noticed Nikki's wound.

Atul was walking out of the hospital when he saw Nikki. Her dress was stained red, and he assumed it was blood. "Nikki, tumhe kya hua?" he started to ask, then realizing that there was no time, he quickly paged for a stretcher, trying to support Nikki up.

"Abhi, Abhi....maine....maine Jiah ko nahin maara....Abhi.....maine...Jiah.......nahin......maara." Finally, dizziness and shortness of breath overtook her. She fainted.

Atul instructed the wardboy who had carried the stretcher out to rush her to the Examination Room. He then called Dr. Keerti, Dr. Shashank, and Abhi.



Abhi ran to the Examination Room and was shocked to see the sight inside. Nikki was hooked onto the IV machine, along with the LSS (Life Support System). "What happened?" he asked Dr. Keerti. "We have detected Penetrating Abdominal Trauma, probably a stab wound. Its very serious. No one knows how it happened, but Dr. Atul found this knife next to her." Abhi felt his heart sink.



This was the same knife he had seen in Nikki's hand when Jiah had been stabbed.

Part 2

Dr. Keerti went on. "Dr. Modi, we have already performed the CT scan and sonography." She handed him the reports. "Her wound is quite deep, and several of the organs have been either pierced or penetrated. Dr. Shashank has recommended not to do surgery yet as Nikita's condition is very fragile. As you can see, we have hooked her onto the LSS, but....." her voice trailed off. "Dr. Shashank wants to see us in his office."

Abhi nodded and followed her out of the room, turning to look at Nikki one last time before exiting. As they opened the door to Dr. Shashank's cabin, they saw Atul seated along with a man and a woman. Dr. Shashank looked up on their entrance. "Ah, doctors, we were just waiting for you. Let us proceed to the conference room."

Everyone got up and the man and woman said their good-bye's to Shashank. Everyone followed Dr. Shashank outside his cabin. Abhi held the door open for everyone, pondering upon something, until he felt a hand on his cheek. He looked up. "Ma?" He looked at the man. "Dad?"

Abhi could not believe his eyes. Here were his parents, whom he had not seen in the past 4 years, in front of him. He bent down and hugged his mother, then his father.

"Beta, kaise ho?" his father enquired with tears in his eyes. "I'm fine Dad. How are you?" "Look, I'm perfectly fine," his father replied, stretching out hi arms to show Abhi.

"Lets go to my cabin." Abhi went to Dr. Shashank and told him that he would not be able to attend the meeting. Dr. Shashank understood. Abhi led his parents to his cabin. Along he way came Nikki's room. Abhi glanced at her form lying on the bad through the window, but had to painfully tear his gaze away and continue walking.

Soon they reached his cabin, and his parents sat down. They caught up on what had happened since the last time they had seen each other. Suddenly Abhi was paged and he left, promising to return within half an hour.

Ajit Modi turned to his wife. "It seems that he is happy here." Amita nodded. She suddenly spotted something sticking out of a drawer. She got up and went to it. It looked like a photo that had been stuffed into the drawer quickly, meaning that Abhi probably did not want anyone to see it. She pulled it out and glanced at it. It was a picture of Abhi hugging a beautiful girl. They were smiling and lost in each others eyes. Ajit walked over to where Amita was standing, and looked at the photo. Amita turned it around and read the date. "September 17th, 2009.......exactly 9 months ago." She turned to her husband, "Abhi looks so happy in this picture. But who is the girl?"

Part 3


"Kaun hain yeh, beta?"

Abhi forced a smile. "That's Nikki....my Nikki."

Abhi spilled the whole story upto what had happened earlier in the day. He was called for yet another emergency, so he took leave of his parents and told them to meet him at his house that night.

His parents were lost in thought after he left.....

Abhi was called by Dr. Shashank regarding Jiah and Nikki. He went into his cabin and found Dr. Shashank poring into a file. On question, the file turned out to be the blood samples of the blood on the knife.

"Dr. Modi, this is a very serious issue. Both Dr. Nikita and Dr. Jiah's blood are on the knife, and their fingerprints too. The evidence suggests that Dr. Jiah stabbed herself, then stabbed Dr. Nikita, and placed the knife in Dr. Nikita's hand. The way Dr. Nikita has been stabbed also suggests that she has been stabbed from the front. Dr. Modi...the police has declared that Dr. Jiah is accused of attempted suicide and murder. Now, we have to wait and see what happens to Dr. Nikita. If she lives, Dr. Jiah will not get a very harsh sentence. If not, then.........and she also has to be taken to a mental hospital. Dr. Modi, if you file for divorce, it will be accepted, no matter what Jiah's saying is. You will be free."

Abhi was happy. He wore a smile on his face all throughout the hospital. However, he could not forget what delicate condition Nikki was in. He went to her room, and sat down beside her, taking her hand in his. "Nikki, do you know, they are taking Jiah away. Now its just us...forever and ever. And we can get married and have 2 kids- just like you wanted...and you know, the whole gang will be together again, and..."

Suddenly he came back to reality. Putting Nikki's hand to his cheek, he kissed her forehead and sat back. "Nikki, you will get better, right? Because I can't bear to lose you." There was an unknown fear in his eyes along with the tears.

As if reassuring him, Nikki's grip on his hand suddenly tightened. He smiled broadly. He went on talking to Nikki, unaware of the five people watching and listening from the doorway.
