Hey guys,

as most of you know, many countries have laws against making criminal records public. Many people in favour of these laws argue that many convicted criminals have passed their sentence time and have been granted a pardon. also that making these records public would not allow that person to lead a normal life as he/she would be eyes with suspicion. But what about the right of other people and their peace of mind?? this question has been in my head for a long time, and i just want to know people's views on it.... so my question is should the convicted registry be made public?? remember to support your view with reasons 😊

Personally all sex offenses should be made public and even a common man should be able to view it ! Reason being , researcher and Doctors say that people with sexual addictions are never able to over come them fully !!

But as for other offenses like murder , theft , grand larceny etc etc . Once the person has served time they shouldn't be made public as i beleive its possible for people to repent and change .

But this can't be all Black or White ..........has to be a gray too .

In many senstive jobs , lets say this X persons name was on the "suspicious for terrorist actvities list " , he/ she should not be able to apply for jobs that involve Country security . Or if a Doctor did "trading of human organs" , his medical license needs to be evoked for good !!
So this is the gray i mean !

Aparna i know what you mean... but just like sexual offendors there are many other murderers who indulge in mass murders over decade, and you won't even know if this person is your neighbour, he is on your street, he plays with your kids. as citizen of this society don't we have a right to have that peace of mind, to have that assurance that we are in a safe atmosphere

See i understand there are the "serial killers" and then there are the other type of murders that killed in "passion OR anger or even cold blood . The latter type who have served their time in prison . 10 years - 20 years or what ever . Prison has broken them down and made them realise the futility of their action .They are as unlikely to commit another murder as say you or me if we were in a "fit of rage" !! They need to be fully pardoned by the Society and given an opportunity to try and lead a normal life by letting him be a part of the neighbourhood (not saying you must call him/her to your home for dinner). And they need to be able to get normal jobs without discrimination .(Unless its a high profiled Goverment job that requires a clean record).

But if its a serial killer , he/she is mentally sick and will likely ever walk out of prison or mental Institution !!
