thanks for sharing it seems like Damodar rao was the rightful heir considering his bloodline. It is very common for royal families to adopt their relatives' children as heir cos what was important for them was the bloodline. Even in present time, the Japanese royal family next in line heir is the emperor's second prince's son. The crown prince only has a daughter and all the other princes have only daughters, so the young boy is the sole heir. Even after Queen Elizabeth I passed on, they chose King James to succeed, he was Queen Mary's son.
It's a pity what the British did to Damodar.

The Brits learned their lesson the hard way, the empire fell, and they not doing so well right now either, their social situation is not all that great!
