I am so glad I found this forum. Now, I can finally use this medium to vent my frustration/anger/joy/sadness that is evoked as a result of watching this 'all moods in one' show, Pavitra Rishta.

Pavitra Rishta started off as such a pleasant, fresh, no-nonsense over the top make-up/dramatic music show. While all that is still eminent, the pleasantness factor is slowly deteriorating.

I am so outraged at how some of the characters/situations are being portrayed in this show. Why are women in this show perceived to be so weak? If you are going to raise some of the social issues that are so prevalent in our society, then the writers of this show should use this opportunity to raise them AND then show how women should really overcome these issues by breaking away from the "norm". But sadly, these writers are showcasing these women to be even more backwards. Whatever happened to social responsibility?

In the case of Vandita, a women who was allegedly "raped" (although she never was) caved in to the social pressure of "how can a raped women ever get married" stereotype. She not only attempted suicide (mistake number 1) but then decides to marry the very person who is the root cause for all the miseries in their household and the Karanjkar household (mistake number 2).

Now, why would you marry when you are at no fault? They should have showed that he has attempted "rape" but then they should've tackled it in such a way that suicide nor marrying him was the solution. So many victims of such acts in the real world resort to this kind of behaviour. And for this very reason, they should use these kind of shows to break away from this. But no, they instead still show Vandu as the weak victim who had no other choice but to try and kill herself to save their family from shame and humilation and then marry the fool to only be tortured and get raped even more. Ok fine, so she has done all that, but why the hell is she still in that god damn house? Arghhhh get her out of there, please! No human being should be subjected to that kind of torture. If such kind of torture exists, people have the option of getting the hell out of there. Not continue living there and get tortured even more?

Moving onto Archana. OMG! Yes, this woman is sweet and a god-sent 'wannabe' angel. She is portrayed to be too perfect. I cannot handle her generosity anymore. It is bordering annoyance levels now. No human being in this world can be this nice. Everyone has a little bit of imperfection, a little bit of selfishness in them. Her on the other hand, she is some great mahaan. Give me a break! Also, she is constantly weeping. Please make her stop. She needs to know how to stand up for herself and her rights. Instead, she is always trying to please everyone.

All I want to say about Manav, is that, he needs to grow some balls!

I can go on and on about all the other characters. But I will save it for later.

But pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, save us from the constant weeping and "niceness that is bordering fakeness" of Archana.

PS: I hate Shravani. She annoys me to no end. Her voice and facial expressions makes me want to throw my remote at the tv (my only way of wanting to slap her hard).
