They indeed love each other, but because of their personalities they have always put themselves last. They both have a mutual understanding that is much stronger then ever before. They didn't trust each other once and have paid a big price now. So they will not ever do that again. But the price they are paying won't allow them to be together. Loving someone isn't just being together. Their "rishta" is way beyond just a husband and wife. The way they treat each other and the people they love impacts them as a couple.
