On the paths of destiny: - Part 1
The wind was blowing high as a girl tried to take her hair back again. The wind is loud today as she taught to herself. She fixed her glasses and waited for the bus to come. As she looked around, she saw little kids playing and was jolted back to her childhood, her memories with sister Anjali and best friends Muskaan and Nikki. She missed those times and a smile followed up on her face. She then was jolted back to her college times. She was never the most popular girl, but she was very studious. She always was number one until he walked in. From the looks of it, every girl in college was crazy for him, but he never gave anyone a good look. He always wore his bag around his shoulder and was always glued to a book he held into his hand. She hated his guts and he hated her. They never saw eye to eye, because of their top competition. After college, she never saw him again.
Jolted back into reality, she went inside the bus. Today was the day again. Another new chapter Riddhima. Get over yourself. You have to get the job this time for sure. After all, you were going to be an intern at such a good hospital; you had to show to the world that you were number one. However, Riddhima thought to herself '#1 doctor, not my cup of tea. I did not even want to be a doctor. I wanted to be a lawyer, but dad and mom. Just because di and the entire family are of doctors, let us make the youngest one too. It is good that I was smart, but seriously, doctor bores me.
While she was lost in her thoughts, another person was fixing his tie and his glasses. She turned around and saw a man dressed in perfect attire, trying to make sure everything works. She thought to herself. " Maybe I need something motivational to get me working on this job. How would I apply myself, what would motivate me, she thought to herself.
The bus finally stopped and another person got on. It was a girl, she was wearing pants and shirt and a white coat, well here comes another person – Riddhima thought. Were all going to Sanjivani to get their interns of what. The girl was really nervous and Riddhima felt bad for her. Riddhima was about to go to her when the bus jolted and she was thrown on the other side when a hand grabbed her.
She opened her eyes to see him. Her eyes widened. He was still the same. The same glasses, bag around the shoulder. He was holding to her waist and a spark fell down her spine. She thought to herself. " What is he doing here?" He is not here for this job is he? He finally let her go and she straightened herself up. He took a seat behind her, and looked calm and relax. It was time for Riddhima to be more nervous then she should have. Relax Riddhima. You are well prepared. She shot a glance back at him and he was toying around with his blackberry. She prayed that she would be selected.
The bus finally stopped, and all of them get into the large building. They were given numbers and asked to report to the main front where Dr. Keerti would be asking them questions. Riddhima was nervous, the other boy and girl were also nervous but he was calm. She shot some more glances back at him , thinking whether he remembered her or not, but he continued to toy with his blackberry.
Dr. Keerti was tough. She asked them random medical questions and to her surprise, everyone answered it correctly. He was as usual the topper, he knew everything but maybe because he was passionate. Riddhima was let off on an easy question, thank god. Now the passion to do well and get the job was important for Riddhima. He was there, to motivate her. All were given the jobs and were asked to rush to their lockers and began their jobs right away.
She went to her locker and opened it , and adjusted her locker, with certificates, and photos. She could feel his presense, as he opened his locker. A strange smell intoxicated Riddhima. He put his bag in and grabbed his medical coat. He stared at it for a bit and he slowly closed his locker and went away.
The announcement broke her thought process and she went to get her duties assigned. The gang was finally introduced to each other, but he was nowehere to be seen. She tried to find him but she couldn't see him anywhere. She asked Dr. Keerti about the boy with the shoulder strapped bag but to her shock, Dr. Keerti told her there was no one such like that. There were only 4 interns – Her, Dr. Rahul Grewwal, Dr. Atul Joshi and Dr. Sapna Shah. There was no boy with a shoulder strapped bag.
Had she been dreaming this all along? Was he just a figment of her imagination or was he really here?
