Hi all...
Now a days Govt itself doing different kind Sting operations for political purpose...What your views about Sting operations.!? Do you think before Sting operation...official should take permission must be obtained from appropriate courts or from higher officials? Now a days most of the channels like to show or do different kind of Sting operations..exposing corruption regarding specific deals, a vast gulf exists....Do you think these kind of operation and whether stilted 'exposure' of this kind can improve the system or will damage it further!?Do you think sting operation is against human rights!

sting operations if conducted for a worthwhile cause ,in an unbiased manner would expose unscrupulous practices in various organisation. This wud put a pressure on the organisation to clean up their act.
On the other hand there are unscrupulous journalists who carry out biased and lopsided sting operation to sensationalise an issue and thereby sell thir news . worse still , some journalist do it to blackmail and extort money.

See, in India, the society is aware of corruption, but since it doesn't have the means or the power(read money) to expose such illicit activities, such sting operations provide the means to bring to light these shady going-ons and also gives the common people enough evidence to make up a case against such officials.

In essence sting operations are good for society. They provide a means to expose corruption and illicit activity. However, I have serious doubts about the media's ability to responsibly and ethically conduct these sting operations. Media today is less concerned with justice and more concerned with sensationalism. Even when a scandal is exposed it does more for the channel and journalists doing the expose rather than people who deserve justice. Rather than pursuing real issues, they pursue issues that will create a sensation. This makes sting operations another issue rather than a resolution.

Being aware of a problem and doing anything about it doesnt take anyone anywhere . Its not that the ppl do not have the power to expose illicit activities. The RTI (right to information ) Act places great power in the hands of the common man. The problem is corruption is so widespread that it has caught up almost everyone in its folds. To fight it effectively one wud first get out of its entangles . Thats a tall order in itself !

True. I'd like to add one small thing: illiteracy. Such people can get entangled in such messes and not know about the legal proceedings, laws etc.
