Hi folks , The problem of finding a suitable parking place for ones car is taking a turn for the worse. Its quite common for a familes in urban cities to have 3-4 cars . Space availibility to park the additional cars is altogether another story .This leads to many ugly situations . Heated arguments due to indisciplined parking is a common occurence. But when people lose tempers to the extent of drawing their revolver and shooting the other I think its time to give a serious thought to this problem.
Space has become a scarce commodity . There are many high rise buildings coming up in the urban areas which normally have provisions for parking one or at times two cars per family. But ppl go in for a third and even fourth car with scant regard to availibility of parking spaces. The increasing no. of cars leads to many other problems too like traffic snarls, pollution, global warming.
What do you think coould be a practical solution to this ever increasing problem? Ppl are averse to using the public transport system for varied reasons !

In Singapore there is a similar problem so the Govt. has built several multi-story carparks in residential areas to meet the needs, plus huge multi-level underground carparks in shopping centres esp new city extentions.

multi level car parks are being constructed in most of the new malls and some residential areas but its simply not able to keep pace with the everincreasing number of cars.

I know parking is hell in Chicago and DC. New Orleans had a lot of parking places, but parking costs were daylight robbery. The part of the world where I come from there may be more cows per sq km than people. Open space and open air abound and parking is aplenty.

Just start eliminating humans in this world. Parking and traffic issues will slowly be resolved.

Oh parking in town areas also cost a bomb apart from having to pay auto road tolls when going through the gantries. Ah a thousand ways to make us poorer and discourage driving, fortunately the public transports and trains are pretty well developed here. some only drive on weekends and off peak hours as it is far cheaper.
I know parking in Hong Kong is pretty bad and quite a nightmare, not many drive to work.
