Simi tells Abhi that Rajeev Bhalla and his family has moved next door; she tells Abhi that she didn't have time to tell him about what happened because he rushed out of the house so fast. Abhi is not happy with her decision to keep everything a secret and is livid.
Simi asks him what does he plan on doing; does he plan on doing something dangerous like killing RB? She wants to know and she begs him not to take the law into his own hands. Abhi asks her that in all the time she has known him has he acted to irrationally to do something so foolish? Simi is quiet; and then reminds him of the time he hit RB at the police station and the matter had not even reached this degree and Abhi was so angry.
Simi is very apologetic for minimizing the issue and begs that he does not do anything. Abhi tells her that he will think about what has to be done and that his decision will be dependent on one more thing and he wants her to be very honest. Simi is anxious and asks him what would make him explode. Abhi tells her that if RB laid one finger on her he would kill him and if he had and she kept it a secret from him, he would never forgive her.
Simi is anxious; she doesn't know what to do. She thinks of the night when the fuse went out and how RB had tried to throw himself at her. She then recalls the time he attempted to take her when she went to get the medicines at the house. Simi gets flustered. She thinks if she tells Abhi he will surely kill RB (and then we get the flash back). She thinks to herself, only she and RB know, no-one else. There is no way RB will tell Abhi about it because Abhi would kill him, so why should she tell Abhi? She tells Abhi nothing happened. He makes her swear, and she swears (with great difficulty) and she tells Abhi, "You know I cannot tell a lie Abhi." Abhi smiles and says "I know." Then he hugs her and tells her he didn't mean to scare her or make her so upset and they're looking forward to the jagarata.
All goes well and Abhi and Simi are enjoying each others company but the fact that Simi lied to Abhi keeps nagging at her and she cannot relax; she wants RB to move away from next door. Abhi , Anuj and Milli are trying to devise away to get rid of the neighbors'
NIGHT OF MATA KI CHOWKI (NOT JAGARATA AS PREVIOUSLY WRITTEN)
RB and his mother get themselves invited to this event much to Manju's displeasure. There Anita and RB see each other and she manages to get him to talk to her. He tells her what he has planned (moving next door) and she laughs at the idea and knows she can use it to her benefit. She plans to assist him in making life miserable for the Seethi family. She then tells him her displeasure at Simi and RB's ears pick up at her name. He confesses to her that all would have been well for both of them if Simi had married him but that stupid Abhi had to get in the way.
Anita shares with him if there was any way she could destroy the relationships between Abhi and Simi it would give her great satisfaction. RB tells her that if he could help her he would graciously oblige'and then he decides to tell her that there is little chance of that happening because Simi is very loyal to Abhi. He then discloses about the proposition and she would not go through with it and laughs it off. He also reveals to her about the night he tried to meet with her at the house when the fuse went off but she wouldn't let him near her but he also knows she never told Abhi about the proposition because she never called out for him.
Anita is disgusted with RB and tells him if he ever tries to do anything like this with her, she will never forgive him and she will drag him through the mud. She also reminds him if he attempts to take advantage of anyone, she will tear him a part, but that she will forgive him for now because of what he shared with her (and give him the traditional Anita smile). Anita wonders if Simi ever told Abhi about EVERYTHING because Abhi had done nothing to RB as yet and HOW could she tell Abhi and Abhi believe her (Anita). If she did tell Abhi, she would also have to explain how she knew.
Anita comes up with a plan and tells RB, the best way for Abhi to know is for you to tell him yourself. RB is not too keen as he knows Abhi could beat him up but Anita threatens him, and RB gets worked up and agrees. She assures him as well, "I will be there to hold him back with Anuj, but you tell him and then we'll have fun. Oh, and watch me, if I don't drag Simi Seethi's name through the mud and her family on this auspicious night, then my name is not Anita (and she says Tarneja)."
RB approaches Abhi and wants to tell him but Simi sees him coming near Abhi and tries to drag him (Abhi) away. However, it all fails miserably and RB approaches Abhi and says, well it looks like you and Simi are happily married now. Abhi looks at him ready to blow his brains out but stays calm, I guess you think you're very happily married don't you but there is something that will tell you how happily your marriage is (and he laughs) and tells him about the proposition expecting Abhi to explode, but Abhi remains calm. RB is confused and realizes Abhi knows and feels more awkward and then wonders how much he knows' and then laughs. He taunts Abhi, "You think your wife is faithful to you don't you? Well let me tell you she and I had a nice encounter on the night of your fuse went out ' the night I left the note." At this point Anita and Anuj appear and they both get in the way as Abhi starts fueling over'
RB laughs and smirks, "You mean your wife never told you did she?" Anuj threatens RB and warns him to stay away from his family. RB starts to speak out loudly, saying "I don't have to stay away; your sister can't stay away from me. If my proposition for her to sleep with me for the house was so bad, why did she keep it a secret from all of you?" Manju and whole family is shocked including RS who starts to cry and feels very helpless. Abhi is getting angrier and everyone is holding him back.
Simi gets in the way and tells him RB's lying. RB laughs at her. Abhi demands to know the truth and Simi begs not in front of everyone, so they go aside ' Simi and Abhi ' and she tells him what happened that night and the day she went to get the medicines from the house. Abhi is ready to rip RB a new a-hole and he leaves her afraid of what will happen and this time he does beat the crap out of RB until the police come. Turns out the police don't arrest him. RB and everyone else are confused because instead they let Abhi finish with RB and tell RB to go home before they arrest him. Turns out Abhi talked to his Commissioner Uncle and he got "full permission" to go ahead and beat up RB and any police called to the scene would be under his orders not to do anything to Abhi (see our Abhi thinks ahead). RB leaves crying, his mother cries, the people and neighbors are impressed at Abhi defending Simi and the fact the law side with him, Anita is pissed at herself, Neetu is thoroughly entertained but embarrassed by her family'Nakul does not show as does Dadi (thankfully).
Then after Abhi is done with RB, he goes and confronts Simi who is by now a total mess. She is shaking and crying and while she is satisfied that Abhi has defended her honor, she is devastated at the outcome ' Abhi will never forgive her and she has no way to explain herself to him.
Abhi tells her they are going home as he doesn't plan to air their business in front of the entire neighborhood.
Abhi and Simi go to the house'Abhi asks Simi why she kept everything a secret. Simi is terrified; she's speechless. She knows Abhi will never forgive her. Words defeat her. She's so scared to speak she does not know what to say. Abhi is calm and rationale, and asks her again, why she didn't tell him. Simi is so scared her voice is lost.
Abhi tells her, "I told you to tell me everything and you lied to me; RB came here that night when the fuse went out and you let him near you and you never called me to help you. If he had raped you that night would you have let him? How far would have let him go Simi? How far?" Simi is crying; tears are welling up in her eyes. Abhi continues, "Simi, this scum bag (think of a word in hindi), tried to rape you once before and now he tried to proposition you. That day you had no-one to help you, but today you have ME! I'm here, I would never let him touch you but you didn't trust me enough to protect you. Your fear of what I could do, this fear of yours got the better of you and you kept this secret from me. And on top of it you made me look a fool in front off that cockroach and you lied to me!"
(Here's the icing for me), "Simi, I have been there for you more times then you care to appreciate or thank me. I do it because I love you, because you mean something to me, because you've got a heart of gold and you care for others, but sometimes I wonder, when will you ever care for me? When will you ever give me the love that you give to everyone?
Simi finally speaks and she's sobbing, "Abhi I know you can never forgive me for what I did but I pray that you at least try to understand why I did what I did. I didn't want you to go to jail, I was scared. I couldn't bear to think of you going to jail for him so I kept quiet. I was wrong. I was scared, I couldn't tell you and I wanted too but I was scared. I can't live without you."
Abhi looks at Simi and sighs, "No Simi, you think you know everything, you think everything you do is right. Just like you wanted to marry RB to give your brother a chance to marry Anita, and your family's reputation would not be tainted. You did it because YOU thought what you did was right even after your family was not happy. Let me also remind you, that YOU chose to marry Nakul because YOU thought it was the right thing to do to save your family's reputation because Neetu was pregnant. She didn't care about her reputation. O, and let me add, you were going to live without me then, but it didn't seem to bother you then did it? Why now!?! "
Simi has no answer. "And Simi, even in this marriage, we do everything because YOU want it. We live at your family's house because YOU wanted to come here. And the reason why you never told me has nothing to do with my anger but because YOU wanted to take care of the whole house business yourself. Let me ask you one thing Simi, would you have slept with RB in exchange for the house?"
Simi is horrified and disgusted that Abhi would ask this of her. She looks at him and swears, "NEVER."
Abhi looks at her and says, "You lied to me once before, so how do I know you're not lying to me now? I don't know Simi, YOU decide everything. You have decided to do things before; I have no guarantee, no assurance, nothing. I don't even have your word. I have nothing. Marriages don't work like this Simi. You destroyed this marriage and you've destroyed us. You never told me the truth and I don't know if and when I can ever trust you again."
Abhi sighs, his eyes are saddened and he tells Simi, "Perhaps I need to leave, and give us both some time to think about us. May be with some time a way from each other, may be then you might miss me'I don't think the past two days were enough. The company has a project outside (pick a place) for a week. I need time to think and may be you do too."
Simi asks Abhi one thing, "Please don't tell my family my marriage is falling apart right now, I would be too ashamed to face them with what I have done. Can I ask this much of you? Abhi nods in agreement.
Then Simi sighs and she pours her heart out to Abhi, "Abhi, I made a mistake, a big mistake. I make decisions because I think of everyone else and not myself. I didn't realize that in all that I did, I also hurt you so many times. I want you to know I have never loved or wanted anyone more than you and perhaps I have done a terrible job of showing it to you. I can make amends but only if you give me a chance. I truly never wanted to betray your trust and I never wanted you to think I would ever be unfaithful to you for this house or my family. I would never do something like that in my life. It breaks my heart to know that you cannot trust me and I know that it is my fault. I promise, I never wanted to keep secrets but I was truly afraid and my fears and my fear of losing you were too much for me to bear. I would never have forgiven myself if you had gone to jail or worse, died for killing RB. I really wanted to tell you. I really did. Most of all Abhi, I would never be unfaithful to you NEVER, never not in a million years, even if someone like RB blackmailed me."
Abhi is silent. Simi is torn apart and sobbing, "Please don't leave me, be angry at me, yell at me, call me names but please I don't don't want you to go even for a week. You're punishing me and you're not even giving me a chance to make it up to you. It's not fair. And you're leaving me without any guarantee that when you come back you still want to be with me. If anything, take the out of town project, I will go with you, it will be me and you alone. Not my family, not my problems but please, give me a chance."
