Celebrities have always had to pay a price for their fame. Actor-couple Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi realised how high the price is recently when they roped in their two sons Aryamaan and Ayushmaan for the publicity of Star One's Nach Baliye last year. Then, they were clueless about the trouble that would follow this move. Now, they're truly regretful. For, after the promo of the show with the entire family came on air, both the kids were instantly recognised as 'star kids' by people living in their vicinity and their fellow students in school as well.
"Kids in the school started ragging them after the show came on air," says a family friend of the Sethis. "They are being teased no end, about their own appearance on TV and about their parents. They're being made to feel like aliens, among the kids. Obviously, both Aryamaan and Ayushmaan felt traumatised. They're sensitive kids and not use to the limelight." All the negative attention has taken its toll on them emotionally.
It all started when their neighbourhood kids made them the butt of their jokes and gave them the tag of 'star sons'. Normally, most celebrity parents try not to highlight their star status among their kids' friends, as they want their kids to grow up normally like any other kid. When contacted, Archana Puran Singh sounded disturbed. "The last few months have been very traumatic for us," she said. "As parents we've seen the repercussions of bringing our sons into the picture. We've learnt our lesson and henceforth we will not allow any publicity when it comes to our sons and our home." She has now tightened security outside her Madh Island bungalow. They've also made sure that between Parmeet and Archana, one is always at home to protect their children from harassment.
