CID story lines may be simplistic and low budget but still it holds the audiences. ACP Sahab is doing a fine Job.👍🏼 So now we have some upgrades.

New team to be formed in Sony's CID; Hrishikesh Pandey comes back

02 May 2010 | 4:42am 39 Comments

The coming episodes of Sony's CID will see the introduction of a second investigating team; Hrishikesh Pandey who was earlier part of the show comes back..

Fireworks Productions' long running show on Sony, CID is going to have a revamp soon, with the introduction of a whole new investigating team. However, the very much popular team of ACP Pradhyuman (Shivaji Satam), Daya (Dayanand Shetty), Abhijeet (Aditya Srivastava) and others will still remain as the main investigating CID team.

According to our source, "The new team will have three investigating officers wherein there will be two male officers and one female officer. Hrishikesh Pandey who was earlier part of CID, has been finalized to be part of the new team. Hrishikesh earlier played the role of Abhimanyu in CID. Alka Verma who essayed the role of the officer Muskaan earlier is also slated to get back. The third member to join the team has not been finalized yet. There will also be a new Lady Forensic Officer entering CID. But the actor to play this role has not been finalized".

When contacted, Hrishikesh Pandey confirmed the news and said, "Yes, I am back to the CID team. It was very sweet of the production house to call me back. I have a great rapport going with B.P. Singh Sir and others in the cast. I have started shooting for my part, and got a great welcome on the sets".

Hrishikesh Pandey was recently seen in Zee TV's Do Saheliyan Kismat ki Kathputaliyaan.

According to our source, "Hrishikesh will be introduced in the episode to be aired on May 7th. The other officers will be shown entering later".

"With the introduction of the second investigating team, Sony is contemplating on making CID a biweekly show. However, the final decision on this is yet to be taken. If at all this happens, CID will in all probability air every Friday and Saturday at 10 PM slot", informs our source.

We tried calling Producer B.P. Singh, but he remained unavailable.

We also tried calling Ajay Bhalwankar, Programming Head, Sony and even sent him a text message, but did not get any revert.

CID is a show which has an eternal life. For some reason this thriller contineous to attract more and more audience ... while maintaining its loyal audience aswell.

Nowadays its a tradition I feel. So many children who used to enjoy it with their grandpa's now enjoy it in their early/mid twenties ... and surely soon will enjoy it with their wives ... and then their children. The utility that CID is going to provide now is more than entertainment ... but a memory of Indian Television and its thrillers.

No other thriller could make even the remotest of places in the heart of the Indian audience when comparing it with CID. Its just more than a show ... its a story or Indian Television.

I hope they dont change Pradyuman, Daya, Abhijeet and Freddy. Also, I will be very disappointed to see Saduke or his assistant (abhijeet's girl friend) leaving. These people are a must stay. The new casts are ofcourse welcome aswell... but not at the price of those integral old ones who are now cornerstones of CID.

A show like CID is the pride of Indian Television and their capability to produce good thriller shows ... otherwise many accused Indian artists of not being able to do anything beyond romance...which is very disheartening.

God bless CID. May many success follow.

CID is popular because the deprived audiences have not been introduced to Dick Wolf's L&O Franchise. When I was in India, I watched CID and thought it was awesome and the best thing on earth. I hate the pathetic saas bahu soaps that litter television - so CID was fresh, different, innovative, exciting, interesting - Indian television could not get better than this.

Then a few years ago I was introduced to L&O and have been an addict since. I do not watch the main series much since McCoy got promoted - but Benson & Stabler and the entire SVU team are my heroes. I love love love SVU and have withdrawal when I do not get my weekly dose of SVU.

20 years and L&O is still strong. There is now L&O UK, Paris and Russia. CID has its place and fanbase. But for me CID now is garbage. Its just juvenile childish entertainment of cheesy crime drama that is based in some fantastical alternate reality where criminal laws have magically changed to conform to the ridiculously absurd ways of the joke on law called CID.

Well return_to_hades ... I do appreciate your frankness, and respect your analysis ... but I still think that CID, with respect to Indian thrillers, should be given more respect than calling it a garbage.
I know that the Television industries of the west (USA mainly) are much developed. But India is trying aswell. CID is a brave attempt, and its success should be celebrated.

CID should march on and evolve. But this can be done by patting this shows back and supporting it with our encouragement, so that it can survive longer to become better than any other thriller/detective show in this planet. AND INDIANS DONT ONLY DESERVE THIS, but they can DO THIS.

This is my third visit to India since I left this country at the age of three. This is also my longest stay in India (will be here till september). I was basically raised in Sweden and I even married in Sweden, and I have experienced the TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED + MODERN + SOPHISTICATED world of the west aswell. I have witnessed our Indian (and subcontinental) friend's relate the two countries and their status in various ways. But at the end of the day, I realise that INDIA is associated with my respect, and my existence ... anything related to India is related to me PERSONALLY. While I love many things about Sweden and UK (where I studied), and I respect the respectable traditions of Sweden, INDIA STILL remains my personal priority.

I know that CID has alot of ground to make to reach the standard that it deserves rightfully ... but NONE yet have reached perfection, and CID is also in the same path towards success.

Lets be with this show, and the most promising team of the INDIAN TELEVISION INDUSTRY.

Anyways, back to the topic, as to why is it still popular, coming from a true CID fan, I'd say because of the same cast for one and the fact that it has been going on for so long. Yes, the concept has deteriorated a bit, but it's not child's play coming up with a flawless script, with mesmerizing dialogues, action-packed freshness etc...
To be very frank, it would very amateurish and silly to compare Indian TV to American TV. Americans have a whole different set of values than Indians. They don't open their shoes while entering someone's house, they refer to some elder to them by their names etc.. Anyways, how is all this connected? Well, because all this is also realted to economics. Even in the times of this recession, the mindset of Americans has been to spend, spend, spend lavishly, which is seen increasingly in everything. Now coming to the TV industry, they spend miliions and millions of dollars per episode, just to get everything right, not a single flaw in any episode. Proper forensics, not bubbling chemicals blah, blah, blah.
On the other hand, the mindest of Indians is the exact opposite. We have been through tough times, and know what it's like to econonmize. As a result, the TV industry spends much less in comparsion.
One complaint that I do have with CID is the portraying it's charcters and also the need of better characterization, better forensics techniques. To summarize everything, hoepfully, the PT doesn't think that the audiences are dumb.I mean, what the hell are bubbling chemicals doing in the forensics lab? And the weird combination of chemicals, they need to stop.👎🏼They need to have a game plan, and do accordingly, without totally deciving the audience(a lot of which is done today)
At least CID is better than the stupid saas-bahu soaps. Utter nonsense🤢 But if you long back at the former episodes, look at the investigation, how well-balanced everything is. 👏👏 They need to do the same thing now. Also, American investigation serials haven't been going around for long. Longevity wise, CID makes them look like a baby. That's another reason why you can't compare them.
Anyways, my spectrum or vista of American crime shows like CSI, L&O, Criminal Intent and Indian crime shows, especially CID, is entirely different. I don't compare them at all. Besides, there are better crime shows that are upto the standards of American shows(no, I am not comparing them at all). Look at Powder, or look at Special Squad. But the problem was that they weren't really publicised much and are a short-term series. Anyways, I enjoy them and would advise you all to watch them.
So, finally my answer would be because of the cast, the aura of the show(which is fading a bit though), it's longevity, all that within a very tight and fixed budget. Kudos to CID!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
